Creating practical values
In the picture of modern economic development, the logistics industry is not only the “blood vessel” of commerce but also a measure of national competitiveness. In this field, the silent but persistent contributions of the Vietnamese scientific team have significantly contributed to promoting the development of the logistics industry, one of the new growth drivers of the country.
One of those typical faces is Associate Professor Dr. Ho Thi Thu Hoa, Senior Lecturer, Head of Department of Logistics and Supply Chain Management, International University (Ho Chi Minh City National University). In nearly 30 years of teaching and training, she has devoted much enthusiasm to research projects with high application value, closely connecting science, businesses and state management agencies.

Associate Professor, Dr. Ho Thi Thu Hoa has chaired and participated in over 20 scientific research topics at all levels, strategic policy consulting projects for ministries, branches, and localities in the field of logistics and supply chain management, participated in many international projects (World Bank, UK, Australia...), compiled 4 textbooks and monographs, published over 100 scientific articles, guided doctoral theses, master's students and students to win grand prizes in young logistics talent competitions.
In addition, she is also a member of the Steering Committee and head of the research team on Vietnam's logistics human resources in the Project "Vietnam Logistics Services Development Strategy for the period 2025 - 2035, vision to 2050" chaired by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (The Strategy was approved by the Prime Minister under Decision No. 2229/QD-TTg dated October 9, 2025); is the head of the project on logistics development in Ho Chi Minh City until 2025, with a vision to 2030; presides over research topics on logistics, supply chains, inland waterway transport, seaport brands for Ministries, Branches and localities (Ministry of Transport - now the Ministry of Construction, Binh Duong, Binh Dinh, Hai Phong, Long An provinces...).

With the motto of “research to create practical value”, Associate Professor, Dr. Ho Thi Thu Hoa and her colleagues have determined to carry out many valuable and significant projects for international organizations, ministries, branches and domestic enterprises. For her, each project is a mark of her passion, intelligence and responsibility for the development of Vietnam’s logistics industry.

“I especially remember the Ho Chi Minh City Logistics Development Project, a project implemented in the context of the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite many difficulties, we still made efforts to conduct field surveys, combining direct and online forms, with the support of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and the Department of Industry and Trade, to ensure research quality and meet practical needs.”
"When the project was announced, we were very happy to receive positive reviews from management agencies and businesses. Because the businesses themselves clearly felt that their difficulties and problems were listened to and reflected in the project and the solutions proposed were also very close to practical needs. On the management agency side, the content of the assessment of the current situation and the proposed solutions of the research team were highly appreciated for their scientific nature and applicability," Associate Professor, Dr. Ho Thi Thu Hoa expressed.
Not only stopping at numbers or reports, the project has also opened up a strategic direction for Ho Chi Minh City, when the research team proposed consulting on the construction and development of 7 logistics centers in Ho Chi Minh City in the direction of regional connectivity and international integration. Up to now, a number of central locations have been deployed, contributing to promoting the economic development of the city as well as the entire logistics industry.
“Scientific contributions are only truly meaningful when applied in practice. That is also the way we scientists accompany businesses and management agencies, linking research with reality, creating topics that are both scientifically valuable and highly applicable, contributing to promoting sustainable development,” Associate Professor Dr. Ho Thi Thu Hoa emphasized.
Focus on human resource training
In addition to her important contributions to scientific research and development, Associate Professor Dr. Ho Thi Thu Hoa also devotes much effort to training the young generation and quality human resources to help shape the future of Vietnam's logistics industry.
Video of Associate Professor Dr. Ho Thi Thu Hoa sharing about human resource training for the logistics industry:
Associate Professor Dr. Ho Thi Thu Hoa said that in recent years, logistics and supply chain management have become a field that has attracted special attention from society, businesses and young people. Parents have also begun to see this as a dynamic field with many future career opportunities and have actively oriented and encouraged their children to study it. Therefore, the number of students enrolling in majors related to logistics and supply chain management has increased significantly.
“This requires us to constantly innovate, not only strengthening the theoretical foundation but also updating practical knowledge, grasping the development trends of the logistics industry in the world to be able to integrate into the lecture content and supplement the training program, to have new training programs, updated according to the trend. Thereby meeting the training needs of the community, improving the quality of Vietnamese logistics human resources, thereby making an important contribution to the development of the country. Along with that, we always focus on connecting between schools and businesses. This is a key factor for students to have the opportunity to practice, gain practical experience, and understand more deeply about the operations of the logistics industry. Thereby, helping them shorten the gap between theory and practice, ready to integrate into the professional working environment immediately after graduation. In particular, we wish to train a team of highly qualified Vietnamese logistics human resources, meeting international standards, contributing to the sustainable development of the logistics industry in particular and the Vietnamese economy in general. "Generally", Associate Professor, Dr. Ho Thi Thu Hoa confided.

With her persistent contributions, Associate Professor Dr. Ho Thi Thu Hoa was honored to receive the "For the cause of education" Medal from the Ministry of Education and Training, 4 certificates of merit from the Ministry of Industry and Trade (2019), the Ministry of Construction (2017), the Vietnam Women's Union (2016), the Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation (2018) and scientific awards at home and abroad... In addition, she also actively participates in the activities of professional associations: Vietnam Logistics Service Enterprises Association, Vietnam Logistics Human Resources Development Association (as Vice President).

Sharing her feelings when receiving the award, she could not hide her emotion: “When I received the 2025 Vietnamese Women's Award, I had a very special feeling, an explosion of happiness and pride. The award is a precious recognition for my efforts and continuous dedication over the past nearly 30 years in the field of education, a journey full of challenges but also full of meaning. Throughout that journey, I was fortunate to always receive the attention and facilitation of the School Board of Directors, the Faculty Board; the companionship and support of colleagues, graduate students, trainees, students... and especially the love and support of my family. All of those sources of encouragement have given me the strength to persevere with my choice...", Associate Professor Dr. Ho Thi Thu Hoa shared.

For Ms. Ho Thi Thu Hoa, this joy is not only her own but also the common pride of Vietnamese women, who always strive for their work, for society and still fulfill their roles as mothers and wives in the family. “I believe that all the sisters honored this year share the same feelings, both emotional and full of faith and aspiration to contribute... If Vietnamese women in the past were praised as 'Heroic, indomitable, loyal, and capable', then Vietnamese women today continue that spirit with courage, knowledge and aspiration to rise up. We are and will continue to contribute to the strong development of the country, standing shoulder to shoulder with the world powers, so that Vietnam can confidently integrate and reach out to the ocean”, Associate Professor, Dr. Ho Thi Thu Hoa expressed.
