Strive for student health insurance coverage

Social Insurance officers at Binh Lu base propagate health insurance policy for students at Binh Lu High School.

The student health insurance policy is always a support to help parents feel more secure when their children are unfortunately sick or ill. With that spirit, right from the beginning of the new school year, Binh Lu Social Insurance has been flexible and diversified in its propaganda forms in a persistent, specific, focused and key direction. Focusing on coordinating direct communication at schools, through zalo groups for parents, distributing leaflets, consulting and guiding the installation of the VssID application - Social Insurance number; making a list, reviewing the number of students who have not participated to conduct consultation. From there, helping students and parents clearly understand the benefits of participating in health insurance and creating a habit of accessing digital services, using electronic health insurance cards in medical examination and treatment.
Dinh Trong Duong (class 12A1, Binh Lu High School) confided: “Participating in health insurance, my family and I feel much more secure. If we are unfortunately sick and have to be hospitalized, the treatment costs will be supported by the State, helping my parents to have less financial hardship. This is a humane policy of the Party and the State, very necessary for everyone.”
Discussing this issue, teacher Vuong Ngoc Thuong - Principal of Ban Bo Primary School (Ban Bo Commune) shared: “Since the beginning of the school year, the school has coordinated with Binh Lu Social Insurance to disseminate health insurance policies to teachers and parents. Homeroom teachers have implemented this in the first parent meeting of the year; collecting health insurance premiums in parallel with other fees according to regulations. In addition, the school's medical room is also fully equipped with medicine and medical supplies, meeting the requirements of first aid and health care for students."
According to the report of Binh Lu Social Insurance, in the communes managed by the unit (Ban Bo, Binh Lu, Ta Leng, Khun Ha), 15,876/15,925 students participate in health insurance, reaching 99.7%. This is an impressive number, clearly reflecting the determination of the local political system in realizing the goal of comprehensive health insurance coverage for students. However, there are still nearly 50 children who have not participated. The reason is that some preschool children do not have birth certificates due to the consequences of early marriage, marriage with foreign elements, so they cannot complete health insurance procedures or have especially difficult circumstances, and parents cannot afford to buy for their children.
Faced with that reality, Binh Lu Social Insurance proactively coordinated with schools and commune authorities to find solutions. Students with special circumstances were listed specifically, reported to local Party committees and authorities, and at the same time, called on philanthropists and donors to support. Mr. Do Vu Tung - Deputy Director of Binh Lu Social Insurance affirmed: "The unit closely followed the direction of Vietnam Social Insurance and Provincial Social Insurance, at the same time, mobilized the strong participation of the local political system. Three key groups of solutions have been deployed: coordinating to organize propaganda conferences for parents and teachers; organizing health insurance policy consultation booths at the opening ceremony of the new school year; supporting the installation of the VssID application so that students and parents can easily look up and use medical examination and treatment benefits". This approach has helped the student health insurance policy not only stop at propaganda and mobilization work but actually enter life, attached to each family and each child.
We believe that with many synchronous solutions of Binh Lu Social Insurance, the set goals will be achieved, so that each student will be comprehensively protected in terms of health and can study with peace of mind.
