On the afternoon of March 29, at the Vietnam Military History Museum, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army launched the Campaign to create propaganda paintings to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of the Founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th Anniversary of National Defense Day nationwide.

Speaking at the launch, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Duc, Director of the Propaganda Department, General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Propaganda Painting Creation Campaign, emphasized: "Many propaganda paintings have fulfilled their political roles and tasks well, becoming works with widespread power and attraction, encouraging and becoming symbols of struggle that leave a strong mark of the times in the minds of officers and soldiers across the front lines... However, there are still many issues that need to be further supplemented and perfected, there have not been many large, high-quality works that explore the humanistic depth of the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers and the stature of the country and the Vietnamese people...

Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Duc said that organizing the campaign to create propaganda paintings is a practical measure and contributes to propagating the Party, State and army's guidelines and policies on military defense and building armed forces, conveying meaningful messages about our nation's tradition of fighting against foreign invaders and the heroic Vietnam People's Army... Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Duc believes that through this campaign, the authors and artists in the convention will contribute to reflecting and rekindling the strong vitality of propaganda paintings, continuing to beautify the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers through their works.

This is a key cultural and artistic activity in implementing the Projects to celebrate major holidays of the country and the Army in 2024. It is also an opportunity to mobilize and gather the spirit of creative labor of Vietnamese artists to create propaganda paintings on the theme of the Armed Forces - Revolutionary War, vividly depicting the image of "Uncle Ho's Soldiers", widely propagating and promoting to compatriots and soldiers nationwide the spirit of military-civilian solidarity, the glorious tradition of 80 years of building, fighting and growing of the Army, while at the same time widely spreading the contributions and achievements of the armed forces and people of the whole country in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland today.

Also at the launching ceremony, artist Trinh Ba Quat, Head of the Graphics Association, Vietnam Fine Arts Association, former Director of the Special Forces Museum shared: "The type of political propaganda paintings has special value in military units. Although in the 4.0 era, and many means of propaganda, the position and role of the propaganda painting genre, one of the types of Vietnamese visual arts, still has great value in the new period...".
