On October 8, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc and his delegation inspected flood response and recovery work in Lang Son province.

At the inspection session, Lang Son provincial leaders reported on the work of preventing, responding to and overcoming the consequences of storm No. 11 (storm Matmo) in the province.

Accordingly, due to the impact of storm No. 11, as of the morning of October 8, Lang Son province had 2 injured people; more than 3,000 households were affected by collapsed houses, landslides, and flooding.

Among them, the communes of Yen Binh, Van Nham, Huu Lung, Tuan Son, Cai Kinh, That Khe, Trang Dinh, Quoc Viet... were flooded over a large area.

The floods flooded more than 1,000 hectares of crops, broke 80 hectares of fruit trees, and toppled 4 hectares of forest; affected 9 educational facilities; and caused landslides and flooding at 153 traffic points.

Many bridges, tunnels and roads were flooded and eroded. Many communes lost power and telecommunications networks.

There was a dam break at Bac Khe 1 Hydroelectric Dam, Tan Tien commune...

At the inspection, Lang Son province proposed a number of solutions to speed up flood recovery progress to minimize human and property damage.

At the inspection, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts and proactiveness of Lang Son province in responding to and overcoming the consequences caused by storm No. 11.

The Deputy Prime Minister requested Lang Son province to continue to urgently and synchronously deploy measures to ensure people's safety; continue to support the evacuation of people to safe places, protect people's property; continue to provide food, foodstuffs, and essential necessities to people, especially people in deeply flooded and isolated communes.

The Deputy Prime Minister requested Lang Son province to quickly resolve traffic and infrastructure problems after the floods so that people can stabilize their lives and restore production and business activities. The Government has decided to provide 30 billion VND in support for Lang Son province to overcome the consequences of the floods.

The Deputy Prime Minister also pledged to continue supporting resources and investing in equipment to better serve the work of storm and flood prevention...
