Permanent Deputy Prime Minister meets with Chairman of Turkish Defense Industry Authority

On the afternoon of October 14, at the Government Headquarters, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh received Mr. Haluk Gorgon, Chairman of the Turkish Defense Industry Agency, who is on a working visit to Vietnam.

Welcoming the President and members of the delegation to Vietnam, the First Deputy Prime Minister expressed his delight at the positive development of the friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Turkey in all fields. Implementing the results of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit to Turkey in 2023, the two sides have increased regular exchanges at all levels, especially promoting high-level contacts, thereby strengthening political trust and mutual understanding. On this occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister conveyed the greetings of senior Vietnamese leaders to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

At the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated Turkey's role and position in the region and globally, especially its prestige in resolving current international issues. Affirming that Vietnam always attaches importance to the friendly relations and good cooperation with Turkey, the largest investor and second largest non-oil trade partner of Vietnam in the Middle East, the Deputy Prime Minister said that the two sides still have many opportunities and room for cooperation, suggesting that the two sides promote the exchange of high-level delegations, aiming to elevate the bilateral relationship and at the same time promote specific, substantive, effective and mutually beneficial cooperation programs.

The Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated the results of the talks between the Turkish Defense Industry Agency and the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense, and suggested that both sides promote and deepen cooperation, including defense industry cooperation, and actively contribute to strengthening bilateral relations in general for the common interests of the two peoples, for peace, cooperation and development in the two regions and in the world.

Expressing his honor that the First Deputy Prime Minister took the time to receive the delegation, Chairman of the Turkish Defense Industry Agency Haluk Gorgun thanked Vietnam for its warm welcome and highly appreciated Vietnam's increasingly important role and position in the international arena. Mr. Haluk Gorgun affirmed that Turkey always attaches great importance to and has high political trust in Vietnam, and wishes to continue to coordinate with Vietnam to promote comprehensive cooperation between the two countries. The Chairman of the Turkish Defense Industry Agency expressed his deep condolences for the consequences of the recent floods and hoped that Vietnam would soon overcome this impact.

Mr. Haluk Gorgun also reviewed some of the achievements that the two countries have achieved in recent times, including high-level meetings between the leaders of the two countries and the signing of a memorandum of understanding on defense cooperation between the two sides; emphasizing that the two sides are on a very positive growth trajectory of cooperation and are devoting all their efforts to creating a sustainable future for both countries. Defense cooperation in general and defense industry in particular between the two countries will have specific steps forward.
