According to RT, Mr. Khalil al-Hayya, a senior Hamas official, said on October 9 that the war in Gaza was over, adding that the peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump marked the beginning of a "permanent ceasefire".
"Hamas has received assurances from the United States and other mediators that hostilities will not continue," al-Hayya told Gaza residents in a televised address on October 9.

Mr. al-Hayya stressed that Hamas forces in Gaza had "responsibly handled the US President's (Gaza peace) plan" and had given a response that prevented further bloodshed. He did not specify the content of the response but said that the agreement reached in Sharm el-Sheikh (Egypt) included providing humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, opening the Rafah border crossing and exchanging hostages and prisoners.
"All sides confirm that the war in Gaza has completely ended," the Hamas official continued, pledging to cooperate with all sides to complete the next steps of the agreement.
According to Al Jazeera , the Israeli government confirmed on the morning of October 10 that it had approved phase one of the ceasefire agreement with Hamas in Gaza. Israel's attack on Gaza stopped a few hours after the agreement was ratified.
However, Israeli officials say the ceasefire will only be in effect for the next 24 hours, leaving it unclear whether the Gaza war will end permanently.
