RT reported on October 4 that the Israeli Army Radio and Kan Radio said that the Israeli Army had received orders from the country's leaders to stop the attack to occupy Gaza City.
The directive came after US President Donald Trump called on Israel to stop attacking the enclave as part of efforts to end the war in Gaza and rescue hostages still being held by Hamas.

Under Mr Trump's Gaza peace plan, Hamas must release all remaining hostages within 72 hours of Israel ceasing military operations in Gaza and withdrawing its troops "to agreed-upon lines".
Both Israel and Hamas have said they are willing to exchange hostages and prisoners, but Israel has yet to formally respond to Mr Trump's call to halt attacks on Gaza.
On October 4, Israel Army Radio said the US government had asked Israel to reduce its activities in Gaza to a "minimum" level, and that ground troops would only conduct defensive exercises.
In a statement on the X network on October 4, the Israeli army said the area north of Wadi Gaza, including Gaza City, "remains considered a dangerous combat zone" and urged residents there to move south.
The report added that Israeli forces continued to besiege Gaza City and “attempts to return there pose significant risks”.
Air strikes across Gaza continued early on 4 October “but have significantly reduced in intensity”, Al Jazeera reported. At least 20 people have been killed in Israeli attacks across the enclave since dawn yesterday.
Talks between Israeli and US officials on Mr Trump's peace plan are expected to take place soon, Kan said.
