The final Lexus LS Heritage Edition - goodbye to the legendary luxury sedan

After decades, Lexus LS has said goodbye to customers who love this car line with the final LS Heritage Edition model to welcome a more modern and suitable "younger brother".

The Lexus LS, the sedan that started Lexus and established that a Japanese luxury brand could stand up to the world's best, is slowly fading into oblivion in the US like so many other sedans in recent years. The final chapter of this illustrious line will be written by the 2026 Lexus LS500 AWD Heritage Edition.

The first Lexus LS launched in 1989 was the LS 400. Toyota's luxury car brand - Lexus proved that the Japanese brand, outside of European car manufacturers, could still create a luxury sedan that was true to German standards. At that time, the Lexus LS 400 not only competed with German luxury cars such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW or British car company - Jaguar...

To pay tribute to history and the car that created the legend, Lexus has introduced the LS Heritage Edition 2026 with a limited quantity of only 250 cars for the US market, priced from 99,280 USD equivalent to 2.61 billion VND. This will also be the only LS version left for sale before completely stopping production at the end of this year.

The 2026 Lexus LS Heritage Edition is finished in a completely new Ninety Noir color, a deep black tone combined with dark trim and 20-inch multi-spoke wheels painted in metallic gray. Standard equipment includes: panoramic sunroof, panoramic camera system, Laser Special Black premium wood trim, Ultrasuede material on the roof and sun visors.

The interior recalls familiar shapes from the late 1980s and early 1990s, with Rioja Red appearing for the first time on the LS. Special details include an engraved "Heritage Edition" logo on the center console and LS logo embroidered on the headrests. Heated rear seats, power-adjustable seatbelts, a 2,400-watt, 23-speaker Mark Levinson audio system, and Advanced Park.

The 2026 LS 500 AWD Heritage Edition will be powered by the company's 3.4-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine, producing 416 horsepower, combined with a 10-speed automatic transmission and a standard Torsen limited-slip center differential. The car can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds.

The early success of the Lexus LS luxury sedan is seen as a big part of why the brand's future remains bright today, despite its discontinuation in the US market.

Whether the luxury brand Lexus has any plans to directly replace the LS remains an open question. When asked, the company maintained its usual answer: "no comment on future plans."
