The Singapore International Foundation (SIF) said the pilot project has been officially launched in East Malaysia, with the aim of bringing sustainable clean water to rural communities in Sarawak, Malaysia.

If successful, the pilot project could be expanded to support Sarawak’s Post-COVID Development Strategy 2030 goal of achieving universal access to clean water by 2030.

According to SIF, the clean water project was announced at the 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) taking place in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The first project in East Malaysia reflects SEAPAW’s commitment to enhancing water resilience in climate adaptation efforts in vulnerable communities in Southeast Asia.

Launched in June this year, SEAPAW acts as a catalyst for medium- and long-term solutions by engaging with stakeholders, from knowledge workers, solution providers, financial institutions and philanthropic organizations, as well as governments and policymakers.

Together, they are expected to come up with solutions to the region's pressing water challenges.

Since its inception, SEAPAW has engaged 20 global and regional organizations to promote sustainable and climate-resilient clean water solutions across Asia.
