Initiative to build "Bookshelf for children on November 20" on the occasion of Vietnamese Teachers' Day

According to this initiative, all the books given by parents and students to teachers are collected into the "Bookshelf for Children on November 20" of each school, and are also given to students and teachers in mountainous and highland areas who need books.

On his personal Tiktok page, on November 11, Mr. Hoang Nam Tien - Vice Chairman of the School Council,FPT University (nicknamed "teacher Tien") posted a clip launching the campaign "Bookshelf for children on January 20th " calling on parents and students to give books to teachers on Vietnamese Teachers' Day.

Normally, when the special occasion of November 20th comes, parents and students often give flowers and gifts to teachers. When giving books to teachers, parents and students not only send a gift of knowledge but also nurture a love of books and develop a reading culture with the school. “ To me, good books are companions and great teachers. I really hope that parents and students will send teachers the most meaningful and valuable books to themselves. In this way, we send teachers and schools meaningful gifts in each person's journey of growing up. This will be a great motivation for us on November 20th ,” said Mr. Tien.

According to Mr. Hoang Nam Tien’s initiative, all books sent to the school by parents will be collected into “Bookcases for Children” for each school, where parents of all generations can contribute as a gift to teachers and the next generation of students. Along with that, the school will organize talk shows, with guests being parents who love books and want to share their experiences and lessons from books with students as an extracurricular activity of the school.

The campaign was launched and immediately received widespread response from many teachers and schools. FPT Schools system with 13 primary, secondary and high schools immediately participated in activities such as giving books, organizing exchange events, and launching a reading movement in the community of parents and students. FPT Schools as well as FPT Education have had a rule for many years that teachers/lecturers do not accept gifts from parents and students on the occasion of November 20. Therefore, the book donation activity has become meaningful to the school.

In particular, on November 19, Mr. Tien will also organize a special exchange session at FPT Schools Bac Tu Liem campus, Hanoi . This will be a space for close exchange, where Mr. Tien will share his insights on the role of books in personality and intellectual development, and share experiences on how to make students and children love books more and be interested in reading.

“Letter for You” is the debut book of author Hoang Nam Tien, with more than 45,000 copies published.

Moreover, replacing gifts with books is a way to nurture the habit of reading, which will create a solid foundation for children's comprehensive development in the future.

Since the campaign was launched, the parent community has actively participated in donating books and responding to Mr. Tien's call.
