The principal burst into tears as the school was devastated after the storm.
Many schools in Ha Tinh have resumed normal teaching. However, not all places have easily overcome the damage caused by natural disasters.
In the 2025-2026 school year, Mai Phu Primary School (Mai Phu Commune, Ha Tinh Province) has 487 students in 15 classrooms. To welcome the new school year, the school has just implemented a new roof system for the classroom building with a budget of about 1 billion VND from various sources. The joy did not last long when a storm swept through and blew away the entire roof of 2 classroom buildings.
27 classrooms were blown away, ancient trees were broken, the scene was devastated. The scene after the storm made many people feel heartbroken.

We met Ms. Vo Thi My Tan - Principal of the school in the messy campus. The principal's eyes were red when she saw the classrooms with blown-off roofs, books and school supplies submerged in rubble. Ms. Tan's voice choked up: "We were very confident when we were preparing to welcome the inspection team to certify the school as meeting standards, but the storm took everything away. Looking at the devastated school, my heart ached. After so many years of building, now it's like... nothing."

Not allowing themselves to be defeated, after the storm had passed and the wind had stopped, the principal and teachers in the school immediately started cleaning up. Their hands, now covered in mud, were carrying warped metal sheets, picking up wet books one by one. The image was so moving. They were bracing themselves, turning their pain into action, to soon welcome their beloved students back.
"I feel sorry for the students. Where will they find a stable place to study in the future? We just hope that there will be more attention and investment so that the school can be more stable during the rainy and stormy season," Ms. Tan said with concern.

Overcome difficulties to get up
The storm passed, leaving behind wounds that are difficult to heal. According to preliminary statistics, 412 educational establishments in Ha Tinh province suffered damage, with a total estimated cost of 428.95 billion VND. Of which, 359 preschool, primary and secondary schools were affected (damage of about 395.75 billion VND), 40 high schools (damage of about 26 billion VND), and the rest were vocational education centers, continuing education centers, and secondary and college schools.
Faced with this situation, the Department of Education and Training of Ha Tinh province issued an urgent document, requesting units to review and accurately count the damage and propose temporary teaching plans for schools that cannot be restored immediately. The education sector also directed schools to proactively coordinate with localities to repair, disinfect, and supplement books and learning equipment.
In particular, supporting students in difficult circumstances and receiving and distributing relief goods must be done in the most fair and transparent manner, so that timely sharing reaches the places that need it most.
