According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, it is estimated that by 2025, the whole province will have 1.482 million livestock (including pigs, cows, goats), 22.89 million poultry. The output of fresh meat will reach 353,000 tons, the output of 450 million eggs. About 50% of the total livestock and poultry sold annually (equivalent to 400,000 livestock and about 7-8 million poultry) meet the ability to cooperate for export.
According to the assessment, the production value of the livestock sector is estimated to increase by an average of 1.09% per year. By the end of 2024, the whole province will have 973 farm-scale livestock establishments, an increase of 37% compared to the end of 2020.
In addition, the annual aquaculture area is about 110,000 hectares, with an output of 620,000 tons (mainly tiger shrimp, white-leg shrimp, giant freshwater prawn, sea crab, tra fish, snakehead fish, etc.). About 60-70% of the aquatic product output meets the ability to cooperate for export.
Estimated total aquatic product output in 2025 will reach over 151,000 tons (of which intensive pangasius output continues to account for about 67% of total output), with an average increase of 1.01% per year in the 2020-2025 period.
In the coming time, the agricultural sector will continue to develop livestock farming on a farm scale, maintain traditional organic household livestock farming; develop concentrated livestock farming with biosafety, disease safety and environmental protection; encourage closed production organization, linking between stages in the value chain to cut costs, increase efficiency and added value.
