Ta Khoa strives to escape from a particularly difficult commune

Identifying agriculture as a pillar in the economic structure, Ta Khoa commune directed people to plant nearly 4,806 hectares of various crops; change the crop structure, introduce new varieties with high productivity and quality into production; maintain and replicate two fruit tree planting models according to VietGAP standards of Anh Tu Cooperative (Pot village) and Pa No Agricultural Service Cooperative (Pa No village).

Mr. Lu Van Duc, Party Cell Secretary and Head of Pot Village, said: The village has 83 households with more than 360 people. In recent years, the village has mobilized people to renovate longan gardens, grow Taiwanese mangoes and plums. Up to now, the whole village has 25 hectares of fruit trees of all kinds, including 19 hectares of longan; 3 hectares of mango; the rest are plums, apricots, guavas, custard apples... The village has also established an agricultural cooperative; the average income is about 35 million VND/person/year, the number of poor households has decreased to 10 households.

In addition, the commune also aims to develop livestock farming in the direction of commodities, associated with grass planting in the highland villages, with a total herd of more than 15,000 cattle. Many households have invested in building large-scale farms, planting grass for reserve feed, and applying veterinary measures to prevent and control epidemics. Developing models of pond and cage fish farming in villages along streams and reservoirs of the Da River, with a total area of 13.7 hectares, the commune's aquaculture and aquatic product exploitation output is nearly 18 tons/year.

Forestry has made remarkable progress. Since the beginning of the year, the commune has planted more than 79,000 scattered trees, equivalent to 82.8 hectares of forest. The current forest area is nearly 8,943 hectares, with a forest cover rate of 46.6%. This is an important condition for sustainable development, linking environmental protection with people's livelihoods.

Industry and handicrafts in Ta Khoa have made some progress. The nickel mining project in Phuc village is completing procedures to build a nickel deep processing factory, opening up prospects for sustainable mining industry development, creating jobs and a stable source of budget revenue for the locality. In addition, trade and services have been promoted. Market management, anti-smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods and poor quality goods have been vigorously implemented.

Identifying infrastructure investment as one of the breakthroughs, in 2025, many key projects have been and are being implemented in Ta Khoa. Notably, the Provincial Road 120C Project (Yen Chau - Ta Khoa) has been started, with a total investment of more than 376 billion VND. When completed, it will create a driving force for socio-economic development, connecting commodity production areas with consumption markets and tourism development.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung, Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, said: Many important civil works are being implemented by the commune, such as Ta Khoa Secondary School, with a total investment of 42.5 billion VND; Deo Chen village school with 34.2 billion VND; Hua Nhan Primary Boarding School with 3.3 billion VND. The project to overcome the consequences of natural disasters at the Pua Luong resettlement site, Ta Do village with 1.7 billion VND has been completed, helping to stabilize people's lives. The Khoa village water system worth 6 billion VND is being accelerated to soon serve the people. The work of site clearance and land auction in Phuc village has also been carried out effectively, creating more resources for the budget and infrastructure investment.

Along with economic development, Ta Khoa focuses on cultural and social development. The whole commune has 9 schools, of which 5 schools meet national standards at level 1. In health care, the commune has maintained effective preventive medicine, expanded vaccination, and reproductive health care; in the past 9 months, it has examined and treated over 700 people; the health insurance participation rate is nearly 89%. The cultural and sports movement associated with "All people unite to build a cultural life" has developed strongly; 71.18% of households and 60.87% of villages and sub-regions have achieved cultural titles. Regular physical training and sports activities create a vibrant competitive atmosphere. Social security has achieved clear results; in the past 9 months, 28 temporary houses (27 poor households, 1 near-poor household) have been eliminated; the rate of poor households is 21.42%, near-poor households is 13%...

Despite many difficulties, with the determination of the Party Committee, the government and the consensus of the people of Ta Khoa commune, we believe that in the coming time, the socio-economic situation of the commune will improve. Strive for the period 2025-2030, the average annual growth rate of total state budget revenue in the area to reach 12% or more; by 2030, the commune will have no more poor households according to multidimensional standards, and will escape from the extremely difficult commune.
