Speaking at the reception, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen affirmed that Hanoi always attaches importance to and gives priority to building and developing cooperative relations with German localities, including the capital Berlin and Lichtenberg district.
The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee said that 2025 will be an important milestone when Vietnam and Germany celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations (1975-2025) and nearly 15 years of strategic partnership (2011-2025). This is an opportunity for both sides to look back on the good development of bilateral relations, while opening up expectations for stronger progress in the coming time.

Discussing with the delegation about the socio -economic situation of the capital, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen stated that Hanoi is in the process of rapid development but also faces a number of challenges, especially in the field of urban management, especially in central areas such as Hoan Kiem and Cua Nam wards. Currently, the number of motorbikes and vehicles using fossil fuels still accounts for a large proportion, affecting air quality; localized flooding during heavy rains is still an issue that needs to be further resolved.
To overcome this, Hanoi is focusing on tightening urban order management, optimizing planning on the basis of preserving architecture and historical values, while developing new spaces and building modern works to serve people's lives. The city is also strongly promoting the development of the public transport system, gradually reducing personal vehicles and improving the living environment.
The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee expressed his hope that, on the basis of good cooperation between Vietnam and the Federal Republic of Germany, with similarities in socio-economic development goals and local characteristics, the capital Hanoi and German localities in general, especially Hoan Kiem ward, Cua Nam ward and Lichtenberg district, will continue to expand and deepen cooperation in areas of mutual interest, achieving specific results in the coming time.
In response, Lichtenberg District Chief Martin Schaefer highly appreciated the sharing of Hanoi city leaders. He said that Berlin has many similarities with Hanoi and is also making efforts to solve challenges in environment, traffic and housing development. He expressed his agreement with the direction of cooperation between the parties and affirmed that Lichtenberg district will continue to maintain and promote cooperative relations with Hoan Kiem ward and Cua Nam ward of Hanoi capital, contributing to strengthening the friendly relationship between the two cities.
Mr. Martin Schaefer believes that, on the foundation of strong cooperation that has been built, the relationship between Lichtenberg district and Hanoi localities will continue to develop strongly in the future, bringing practical results to both sides.
During the visit, on the afternoon of October 21 and the morning of October 22, the Lichtenberg district delegation had working sessions with the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem Ward on the topic of culture, with many specific cooperation proposals such as preserving and promoting the value of urban heritage, exchanging art exhibitions, and developing creative products based on heritage. The delegation also surveyed a number of relics in the old quarter such as the Quang Dong Assembly Hall (22 Hang Buom), Kim Ngan Communal House (42 Hang Bac) and participated in a workshop to make figurines. The exchange and professional exchange activities are expected to contribute to enriching the cooperative relationship between the two localities in the coming time. |
