Taylor Swift sets record, Miley Cyrus wins big for the first time at Grammy 2024

The 66th Grammy Awards took place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles (USA) on the morning of February 5 (Vietnam time).

This year's Grammys are a competition for female vocalists. Singer SZA leads the way with nine nominations for her album SOS (2022). Phoebe Bridges and Victoria Monét follow with seven categories. Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, and boygenius each received six nominations.

During the awards night, Miley Cyrus won big when she won 2 Grammy Awards: Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance with the hit song Flowers. These were the first Grammy Awards of Miley Cyrus' career after 8 nominations.

Midnight is the singer's 10th studio album, released in October 2023. The album had the most streams on Spotify globally on the first day (185 million) and ranked third in the first week of release (549 million). The album occupied all positions in the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, and achieved huge sales with over 1.6 million copies in the US and over 3 million copies in the international market.

Jay Z received the Global Influence Award. In his speech, he expressed his dissatisfaction with his wife Beyonce not receiving Album of the Year . “She has more Grammys than anyone and has never won Album of the Year. Is this too ridiculous? Think about it,” the rapper said.

Billie Ellish won the "Song of the Year" category.

In the Song of the Year category, Billie Eilish won with the song What was I made for? - the soundtrack of the movie Barbie. The song, co-written by Billie Eilish and her brother, talks about thoughts on the purpose of life. This result was considered surprising when she surpassed Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Dua Lipa, Olivia Rodrigo, Lana Del Rey.

The Best R&B Song award went to SZA's " Snooze ." The R&B star's smash hit topped the Billboard charts for 12 consecutive weeks. The Best R&B Song award marked SZA's third win.

Previously, the artist took home Best Contemporary R&B Album for SOS and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for Ghost in the Machine, featuring Phoebe Bridgers.
