On October 14, Mr. Ngo Van Thang, Director of Kon Ka Kinh National Park ( Gia Lai ), said that this unit had just coordinated with functional agencies to release a number of endangered and rare animals back into the forest after a period of care and rescue.
Rare animals released into the wild this time include: Java pangolin (group IB), mountain tortoise, giant tortoise, and python (all group IIB).
The release took place in a lush forest area at plot 5, sub-area 432, Kon Ka Kinh National Park.
Regarding the origin of these wild animals, Kon Ka Kinh National Park said they were received from authorities and handed over by local people.
Accordingly, a large land turtle weighing 4.8 kg was voluntarily handed over by Mr. Tran Dinh Hong to the Duc Co Regional Forest Protection Department on October 13; a Java pangolin weighing 6.5 kg was voluntarily handed over by Mr. Huynh Anh Tien, resident of Bien Ho commune, on September 22; and Mr. Tran Duc Thanh, resident of Po To commune, handed over a 1.2 kg mountain turtle on September 11.
These wild animals were received by the Kon Ka Kinh National Park Rescue, Conservation and Development Center and cared for until their health was stable before being released back into the wild.
