The entire Thac Ba commune currently has over 800 hectares of Dai Minh grapefruit, a key specialty fruit tree, which is consumed strongly during the Mid-Autumn Festival. However, due to prolonged heavy rains and floodwaters from upstream, widespread flooding has occurred.
According to initial statistics, the villages that were heavily affected, with deep flooded grapefruit areas, include: Kha Linh, Minh Than, Han Da 1, Han Da 2.

The grapefruit orchards were deeply flooded, posing a risk of root rot and massive fruit drop, seriously reducing the quality of the grapefruit this season. In the long term, the flooding could affect the health of the trees and the yield of the next harvest.
Faced with the urgent situation, the Thac Ba commune authorities mobilized forces and encouraged people to collect all usable grapefruits to limit economic losses. Many households proactively crossed floodwaters to access isolated grapefruit gardens, cut the fruits and transported them to dry areas for preservation.

Speaking to reporters, the leader of Thac Ba commune said: “This is only a temporary solution. After the water has completely receded, the commune will coordinate with specialized agencies to deploy technical measures to overcome the consequences, helping people restore their gardens, ensuring productivity for the next crops.”
