The 2-6 defeat to U.19 Australia in the second match of Group B on July 21st left the U.19 Vietnam team with no right to decide for themselves. Specifically, Coach Hua Hien Vinh's team had to depend on the results of the teams in the remaining two groups. After two matches, the young Vietnamese boys only had 1 point and a goal difference of -4.

U.19 Vietnam only has a maximum of 4 points after the group stage, so it was officially eliminated early.

The second round of Group C will start this afternoon (July 22). There were no surprises, as the teams that were rated higher all won. Accordingly, U.19 Thailand beat U.19 Brunei 6-0. In the late match, U.19 Malaysia also played to their full potential and defeated U.19 Singapore 5-0.

Previously, in the first match on July 19, U.19 Thailand (against U.19 Singapore) and U.19 Malaysia (against U.19 Brunei) also won. Therefore, both teams have 6 points after 2 matches. This result also means that the Vietnamese team has officially stopped early right from the group stage of the 2024 Southeast Asian U.19 tournament.

The second team in Group C is sure to have 6 points after the group stage.

In Group B, the U.19 Australia team with 2 wins, is sure to advance to the semi-finals as the group leader. U.19 Vietnam only hopes to be second in the group. However, if U.19 Vietnam wins U.19 Laos in the final match (at the same time U.19 Myanmar must lose to U.19 Australia), Coach Hua Hien Vinh's team will only have a maximum of 4 points (6 points behind the second team in Group C, U.19 Thailand or U.19 Malaysia).

U.16 Vietnam has a new captain

Coach Cristiano Roland has agreed to lead the U.16 Vietnam team to replace coach Tran Minh Chien. The Brazilian coach will officially start work after completing his mission with the U.17 Hanoi team at the 2024 National U.17 tournament.

Previously, coach Cristiano Roland worked as an assistant to coach Tran Minh Chien in the Vietnam U16 team, during the first training session in April 2024. Therefore, Mr. Roland has a good understanding of the current generation of players.
