On the evening of October 9, the Vietnamese team won 3-1 against Nepal at Go Dau Stadium (Ho Chi Minh City) in the third match of Group F of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. Before that, Malaysia also had an easy 3-0 victory over Laos.

Coach Kim Sang Sik's team had a more difficult match than expected against Nepal. Although Tien Linh scored the opening goal early, the Vietnamese team let their opponents equalize.

It wasn't until the 68th minute that Xuan Manh scored to help the home team take a 2-1 lead.

Just 4 minutes later, Hoang Duc's long-range shot was pushed out by the Nepalese goalkeeper, but Van Vi was able to swoop in and score the winning goal, making the score 3-1 for the Vietnamese team.

This result helps coach Kim Sang Sik's team maintain second place in the table with 6 points, 3 points behind Malaysia. Laos ranked 3rd and Nepal ranked last.

However, Vietnamese fans are still waiting for the final verdict from FIFA and AFC on the 0-4 loss to Malaysia. If they are punished with a 0-3 loss for cheating on naturalization of 7 players, the Vietnamese team will automatically take the top spot and have a good chance of advancing to the final round.
