Divine Iheme shows great potential. |
Born and raised in Oxfordshire (England), Iheme emerged as a phenomenon in 2023. At the age of 14, he shocked everyone when he completed the 100m distance with a time of 10.30 seconds, breaking the world record for the U15 age group.
The achievement immediately earned the young talent comparisons with the legendary Usain Bolt or contemporary star Noah Lyles. Three weeks later, Iheme continued to improve his personal best when running 100m in 10.29 seconds – 0.01 seconds faster than the old record.
Compared to the world’s top athletes of the same age, Iheme’s performance is astonishingly superior. Usain Bolt – who holds the 100m world record of 9.58 seconds – never ran below 10.57 seconds when he was 14.
Current world champion Noah Lyles also did not have as impressive stats as Iheme as a teenager. Gout Gout, a hot young Australian talent, also did not have the same form as Iheme.

Divine Iheme constantly surprises. |
Experts believe that with his current achievements, Iheme can completely compete for medals at the British national championships at an adult age.
Sharing with Telegraph , Iheme recalled the moment he set the record: "That day the computer was delayed, I had to wait in the starting position. When I saw the number 10.3 seconds appear, I screamed and ran around the field because I was so excited."
Interestingly, Iheme's mother and coach, Nkiruka, confirmed that she knew her son had a talent for sports even when he was in the womb. "When I was pregnant, he kept kicking. I, his father and his grandfather were all athletes. When he started primary school, we knew we needed to nurture this talent," she told the BBC .
With a special physical foundation, support from his family and achievements exceeding world standards when he just turned 16 on October 1, Iheme is expected to become the next star of world athletics.
