Vietnam's No. 1 male tennis player enters the semi-finals of the Super 100 badminton tournament for the first time

VHO - Nguyen Hai Dang, Vietnam's No. 1 male tennis player, has reached the semi-finals of a Super 100 level tournament of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) for the first time when he entered the round of 4 strongest players at the Al Ain Masters 2025 badminton tournament, taking place in the UAE.

Although only ranked 64th in the world and not seeded, Hai Dang played very well to overcome strong opponents and advance to the semi-finals.

Hai Dang entered the semi-finals of a Super 100 tournament for the first time.

In round 1, the 2000-born player defeated his opponent from England, then consecutively defeated two Indonesian players in rounds 2 and 3.

The challenge came to Hai Dang when he met Thai fourth seed Panitchaphon Teeraratsakul (world rank 39), the player who just won the men's singles at the Vietnam Open 2025 and reached the final of the Kaohsiung Masters 2025 in Chinese Taipei.

In this match, Hai Dang played very well in set 1, he led 10-2, 15-6 before winning 21-17.

After the end of set 1, the 4th seed from Thailand gave up and the ticket to continue belonged to the Vietnamese player.

By reaching the top 4 at the Al Ain Masters 2025, Hai Dang has set a new milestone in his badminton career when he reached the semi-finals of a BWF Super 100 level tournament for the first time.

Previously, Hai Dang's best achievement at a Super 100 tournament was reaching the quarterfinals at the Vietnam Open 2025 last September.

In the men's singles semi-final of the Al Ain Masters 2025 taking place tonight, 4.19 (Vietnam time), Hai Dang will meet world No. 54 Joakim Oldorff of Finland.
