"That's normal. You can't escape the results. Then you have to suffer the consequences of last season. Last season is not important to me," coach Amorim responded to Wayne Rooney's comments in the press conference before the Man Utd - Sunderland match in round 7 of the Premier League taking place at 9pm tonight (October 4, Vietnam time).
Previously, after Man Utd's loss to Brentford last weekend, Wayne Rooney criticized coach Amorim's tactics as inappropriate, causing the Old Trafford team to have a bad start to this season, with them ranked 14th on the Premier League table, with only 7 points after 6 rounds.

"I don't see anything that makes me confident that Man Utd will be better. In my opinion, there need to be big changes at Man Utd. The manager has to change, the players have to change, everyone has to change. Whatever it takes to bring Man Utd back to the level they once had," Wayne Rooney said.
The pressure on coach Amorim is getting heavier as Man Utd have suffered 17 defeats in a total of 33 Premier League matches under the Portuguese strategist. Although Sunderland is a rookie in the Premier League this season, the challenge for the "Red Devils" is not small when coach Tony Mowbray's army is flying high on the rankings in 6th place.
However, coach Amorim still defends his philosophy with Man Utd to the end, regardless of whether he is fired or not: "We have talked about it. Man Utd have played 6 games this season and lost 3. We have to look back at the games we lost. If we lost to Arsenal because of the system, then it is your job to give your opinion.
When you watch the Man City game, the first thing you think about when the game starts is what system to play. Brentford, the way we conceded goals, the way we created chances, it had nothing to do with the system. That's my opinion. I'm not saying Man Utd would play better in a different system, that's not my opinion.
I mean, if I look at the games we didn't win, the most important thing when I watch that game is not that we lost because of the system. That's my opinion and everyone has a different opinion. That's okay," coach Amorim affirmed.
The Portuguese strategist, however, admitted that Man Utd will have difficulty facing Sunderland despite playing at home at Old Trafford.
"It's going to be a really tough game, Sunderland are playing really well. Watching their games, they've drawn games with fewer players, and they even beat Brentford.
Sunderland are a very good team, with a clear 4-3-3 system with a lot of rotation on both sides of the pitch. They are confident and they know that we will be under pressure and we need to play with that. Man Utd are prepared for a very, very difficult game," concluded the 40-year-old.
