Sharing the burden
Her husband passed away early. For more than 10 years, Ms. Hoang Thi KP (born in 1980, Ngu Hanh Son ward) has been working hard to support her elderly father and two sons with a small salary as a handyman. In mid-2025, her eldest son, Tran HTP (born in 2006), suddenly fell ill and had to be hospitalized at the Intensive Care and Anti-Poison Department of Da Nang Hospital, causing Ms. P. to almost collapse.
After receiving the patient's information, the Social Work Department of Da Nang Hospital mobilized philanthropists to help. Upon receiving the information, the Lotus Charity Fund supported 32 million VND for P. to continue his treatment journey.
Previously, the Lotus Charity Fund also promptly supported the treatment costs for Ms. Doan Thi C. (58 years old, Thang Binh commune) who was in a particularly difficult situation. To have money to raise her 17-year-old son to go to school to repair motorbikes, Ms. C. and her husband took advantage of their free time to work as construction workers to earn extra income.
But then an incident occurred, while working, Mrs. C. unfortunately fell off the scaffolding, resulting in a traumatic brain injury, chest injury and many other areas, requiring long-term treatment. Serious illness, without health insurance, the family was almost exhausted. Accordingly, the Lotus Charity Fund supported 19 million VND, helping Mrs. C. have more humanitarian support to continue treatment.
Mr. Nguyen Duy Duc, representative of the Lotus Charity Fund in Da Nang, said that every time it receives information about poor or disadvantaged patients needing support for hospital fees, the Lotus Charity Fund allocates funds and mobilizes more from the community to promptly support patients in times of need.
“It is not simply a sum of money, but also a hope, a support to help patients have more faith and motivation to continue fighting the disease,” said Mr. Duc.
Light up the faith
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Quoc, Deputy Head of the Social Work Department, Da Nang Hospital, said that Da Nang Hospital is the last line of the Central Highlands region, receiving and treating patients from all over the country. At the same time, we mobilized sponsors for medical equipment and supplies: 20 stone benches, 10 blood oxygen concentration meters, 2 wheelchairs for children with cerebral palsy, 2 leg braces, 15 hemostatic clamps.
