According to the quick report on the commodity market on the 2nd day of the Lunar New Year (January 30, 2025) by the Domestic Market Department - Ministry of Industry and Trade , today, a number of convenience store chains such as Circle K, Family Mart, B's mart, 7 Eleven, GS25 or large distribution systems such as AEON, Go! and Big C... are still open during Tet to serve people's shopping needs.

Previously, speaking to a reporter from the Industry and Trade Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Anh Duc - Chairman of the Vietnam Retailers Association said that in order to implement Directive No. 12/CT-BCT dated November 20, 2024 on implementing solutions to ensure supply-demand balance and market stabilization at the end of 2024 and the Lunar New Year 2025 of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, this year, retail businesses will sell until the 29th of Tet, only closing on the 1st, and opening on the 2nd. Some other retail stores will sell throughout Tet, avoiding disruption of supply to the market.
In addition, at traditional markets, some vendors have displayed flowers and fruits for the New Year offerings and have started selling green vegetables and fresh foods again (mainly fish, pork, beef, etc.). In general, the items consumed today are mainly: green vegetables, seafood, flowers, fresh fruits.
Commodity prices continue to stabilize
Regarding commodity prices, prices of some essential goods on the second day of Tet at supermarkets were stable compared to the first day of Tet.
Accordingly, for food items, prices of regular rice, high-quality rice and delicious sticky rice serving the Lunar New Year demand tend to be stable compared to the previous day. Specifically, the price of high-quality rice in the Northern region ranges from 25,000 - 42,000 VND/kg; the price of sticky rice ranges from 29,000 - 38,000 VND/kg; in the Southern region, high-quality rice ranges from 22,000 - 38,000 VND/kg; the price of sticky rice ranges from 27,000 - 34,000 VND/kg.
Regarding fresh food products, pork, beef and mackerel prices (in the South) are stable compared to the previous day. Currently, pork prices are generally at: rump 110,000-120,000 VND/kg, pork loin and belly 130,000-160,000 VND/kg; grade I beef tenderloin 250,000-280,000 VND/kg; feathered chicken 120,000-150,000 VND/kg; shrimp price (26-30 pieces/kg): 400,000-450,000 VND/kg.
Regarding vegetables, tubers and fruits, although the weather is getting colder, the supply of vegetables and fruits is quite abundant and diverse, so prices are stable. The prices of some popular vegetables are as follows: cabbage: 10,000-15,000 VND/plant, kohlrabi: 5,000 VND/root, lettuce: 15,000-30,000 VND/kg, tomatoes: 10,000-15,000 VND/kg (depending on the locality), potatoes: 15,000-20,000 VND/kg, cauliflower: 10,000-15,000 VND/plant...
Regarding fruits, the prices of some delicious fruits, popular for going to pagodas, tend to be stable compared to the previous day, except for dragon fruit and mandarin oranges, which tend to increase locally in some areas. Specifically: Dragon fruit 60,000-90,000 VND/kg; Cat mango 50,000-60,000 VND/kg; Mandarin orange 50,000-77,000 VND/kg; Dien grapefruit 20,000-25,000 VND/kg, imported apple 100,000-120,000 VND/kg...
The prices of some flowers have increased slightly due to the demand of people going to pagodas. The prices of some popular flowers are as follows: Lilies from 200,000 - 350,000 VND/dozen depending on the type; Gladiolus from 80,000 - 100,000 VND/dozen; large chrysanthemums about 40,000 - 60,000 VND/dozen; roses 50,000 - 70,000 VND/dozen...
For processed foods, the price of pork roll is currently commonly from 150,000-170,000 VND/kg, the price of beef roll is about 280,000-300,000 VND/kg, the price of banh chung ranges from 50,000-70,000 VND/piece (depending on size and weight).
