Weather today October 9: Sunny in the North after many days of continuous heavy rain, heavy rain in the South in the afternoon

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said today, October 9, the weather in the North and North Central regions will be sunny.

Although it is sunny, due to heavy rain in the past few days, floods on Cau and Thuong rivers are likely to peak early this morning. The flood peak at Dap Cau station is about 0.9m above alert level 3, and the flood peak at Phu Lang Thuong station is about 0.18m above the historical flood level.

In addition, floods on some small rivers in Lang Son and Cao Bang remain above alert level 3. Floods on Luc Nam River (Bac Ninh) at Luc Nam station will change slowly from alert level 1 to alert level 2. Floods on Thai Binh River (Hai Phong) at Pha Lai station will gradually rise and above alert level 2.

Widespread flooding in Thai Nguyen province (lasting for the next 2-3 days), Bac Ninh , Lang Son, Cao Bang and risk of flooding in low-lying areas along rivers and urban areas.

The meteorological agency warned of the risk of landslides on river banks and river dykes, flash floods on rivers and streams, and landslides on steep slopes in mountainous areas.

Central Highlands and Southern region have showers and thunderstorms in some places, heavy rain in some places in the evening.

Other areas have sunny days, scattered showers and thunderstorms in the evening, especially from southern Quang Tri to Quang Ngai, there are places with moderate to heavy rain. Thunderstorms may have tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.

At sea, the central and southern East Sea (including Truong Sa special zone), the sea area from southern Quang Tri to Ca Mau, Ca Mau to An Giang and the Gulf of Thailand, scattered showers and thunderstorms. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, strong gusts of wind level 6-7, and waves over 2m high.

All vessels operating in the above areas are at risk of being affected by tornadoes and strong gusts of wind.
