Van Lam is currently gathering with his teammates in Ho Chi Minh City. He is one of three goalkeepers summoned by coach Kim Sang-sik to prepare for the two matches against Nepal.
Sharing at the first training session of the Vietnamese team in Ho Chi Minh City recently, Van Lam said: “After a long time returning to the national team, but for me it feels very familiar, like it was just yesterday. Meeting my old teammates makes me feel very happy.
Even though it has been almost a year since I played for the national team, it really feels like just last week I was playing for the national team. Right now, I am very determined and will try to contribute my best.”

The goalkeeper born in 1993 also shared about the atmosphere during the training session: "Yesterday, I just gathered and ate with everyone, I clearly felt the joy and excitement.
This time there are quite a few young players, and from now on we will focus together towards the common goals of the team."
Answering the question about the competition for a position in the goal, Van Lam affirmed, "In each training session, the coach summons the best goalkeepers in Vietnamese football.
We will support each other in training and competition. Who will start or contribute in what way is decided by the head coach. The important thing is that we all aim for the common goal for the country's flag."
