Lam Giang commune currently has a natural area of nearly 18,000 hectares with 21 villages; more than 4,000 households with nearly 16,500 people, including 11 ethnic groups.

After the merger, the commune faced many challenges in terms of apparatus, infrastructure and people's lives. However, with the consensus and trust of the people and the participation of the entire political system, the great solidarity bloc of the people in Lam Giang was increasingly consolidated, becoming a solid foundation for the locality to move towards the goal of becoming one of the fairly developed highland communes of the province.

After the merger, the grassroots political system was strengthened, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFF) of the commune with 46 members and 21 heads of the village Front working committees soon stabilized the organization.

The most valuable thing is that the people always trust the leadership of the Party and strictly follow the policies of the State. That is the foundation for the Fatherland Front to gather strength and promote the spirit of solidarity to build the homeland.

Ms. Dang Thi Mai Thao - Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lam Giang commune

In Vinh Lam Village, Mr. Do Van Tuan - Head of the Village Front Committee shared: What I see most clearly is that when people are united, everything goes smoothly. From building roads, bringing electricity, to building production models, all are supported by the people. It is the consensus that turns difficult things into easy ones, from nothing to something.

Thanks to that, up to now, the whole commune has maintained 89 socio -economic models, including 78 livestock models according to Resolution 69 of the Provincial People's Council. Self-governing groups and women's groups help each other develop the economy and the models: "Lighting up the countryside road", "Self-governing women's road" have contributed to making the rural area look more and more spacious, improving people's lives. In particular, since the merger, the commune has focused more on administrative reform, thereby strengthening people's trust.

“In the past, even a small procedure would take several days to complete, but now many things can be resolved within the same day. The gap between the people and the government has narrowed,” Mr. Tuan added.

The spirit of national solidarity was also clearly demonstrated in the work of overcoming the consequences of storm No. 10 (Bualoi). The storm's circulation has seriously affected many villages and hamlets in the commune. Some roads were eroded, flooded, trees were broken, the electrical system was damaged, many households had their roofs blown off, walls collapsed and crops and livestock were greatly damaged.

Immediately after the natural disaster, the government and people quickly mobilized all forces including police, militia, youth union and other departments and organizations to go to the area to support people to overcome the consequences.

The work of clearing fallen trees, repairing houses, dredging sewers, and cleaning the environment was actively carried out. Households with heavy damage were arranged temporary accommodation and timely support with food and necessities.

The spirit of “mutual love” continues to spread when many households, youth union organizations, women's associations, veterans, etc. have voluntarily helped severely affected families, clearly demonstrating the spirit of solidarity and affection of Lam Giang people.

Ms. Dao Thi Hien in Vinh Lam village was moved: "Last year, due to the impact of storm No. 3, my old house was almost destroyed by a landslide. The house and the corrugated iron roof, which cost more than 100 million VND, were also damaged. At that time, the whole family was very worried and did not know what to do. Fortunately, officials in the village and commune came to the scene to encourage and support the family to relocate. After that, the State supported 30 million VND for the family to build a new house."

In addition to mobilizing and gathering the people, the commune Fatherland Front also effectively promotes the work of supervision and social criticism. Every year, many supervision and dialogue meetings are organized, reflecting the thoughts and aspirations of the people to the Party Committee and the government. The mediation teams in 21 villages promptly handle conflicts right at the grassroots level, preventing hot spots from arising.

Ms. Dang Thi Mai Thao - Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune emphasized: We consider being close to the people and listening to them as our top responsibility. Every opinion, no matter how small, is received and reported for the government to consider. That is the way to maintain the people's trust.

In the coming time, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lam Giang commune determined to continue consolidating and expanding the great solidarity bloc, promoting the role of all classes of people in socio-economic development.

Specific targets were set: annually helping at least 5 households escape poverty; 100% of villages organize National Great Unity Day; mobilize support for the Fund for the Poor to reach at least 50 million VND; build new and maintain at least 20 practical models and works to serve the community.

“People believe that when we unite together, we can not only build roads and cultural houses, but also build strong neighborly relationships. That is the strength for Lam Giang to move forward.”
