General Secretary To Lam attends North Korea's military parade
Before concluding his visit to North Korea, General Secretary To Lam, along with General Secretary and Chairman of the State Council of North Korea Kim Jong Un and leaders of Russia and China, attended the military parade celebrating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea on the evening of October 10 at Kim Il Sung Square.
In his speech at the event, General Secretary and State President Kim Jong Un thanked guests from all walks of life and international friends for attending the parade. He also thanked the people of the whole country for doing their best towards a glorious October.
Mr. Kim Jong Un affirmed that the Workers' Party of Korea always considers the cause of socialism that the people have chosen and strived for. He also expressed that the Korean people will forever remember and be grateful to the army who sacrificed their lives and blood for the great history of the country, for the dignity and honor of the nation, and for the achievements of the revolution.
The parade was also the last activity of General Secretary To Lam in North Korea during his visit from October 9 to 11.
According to VNA, Head of the International Department of the Workers' Party of Korea Kim Song Nam and Vice Foreign Minister of North Korea Im Chon In went to Pyongyang airport to see off the General Secretary.

An important milestone in Vietnam - North Korea relations
General Secretary To Lam's visit to North Korea is considered an important milestone in the relationship between the two countries, right on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two sides.
During more than 40 hours in Pyongyang, General Secretary To Lam had many important activities, thereby demonstrating Vietnam's consistent viewpoint of valuing relations with traditional friendly countries.
The highlight of the trip was the October 9 meeting between General Secretary To Lam and General Secretary and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of North Korea Kim Jong Un, and General Secretary To Lam's participation in the art program and military parade celebrating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea on October 9 and 10.

The presence of General Secretary To Lam on the stage of the celebration, right next to General Secretary and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of North Korea Kim Jong Un, shows Pyongyang's respect for the General Secretary personally and the Vietnam-North Korea relationship.
At the talks on October 9, the North Korean leader affirmed that the visit would create a strong driving force to enhance mutual understanding, consolidate political trust and promote relations between the two Parties and two countries to new heights.
General Secretary To Lam and General Secretary and State President Kim Jong Un reviewed and expressed their appreciation for the traditional friendship between the two Parties and two countries.
The two leaders agreed to jointly promote Vietnam-DPRK relations to a new stage of development that is more practical and effective. The two countries will increase the exchange of delegations at all levels and channels, as well as effectively maintain dialogue and cooperation mechanisms. In addition, they will study the possibility of cooperation in appropriate fields and promote people-to-people exchanges.
General Secretary To Lam also hopes that the two sides will expand cooperation in areas of strength and potential such as culture, sports, tourism, education, health care, information and communication, and develop radio and television programs to introduce the culture, country and people of each country.
Appreciating and approving the cooperation proposals of General Secretary To Lam, General Secretary and State President Kim Jong Un affirmed that the DPRK wishes to cooperate closely with Vietnam in Party building and national development, and is ready to promote cooperation in many suitable fields.
On the occasion of his visit to North Korea, General Secretary To Lam also met with Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang and Chairman of the United Russia Party and Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev.
Five cooperation documents between Vietnam and North Korea in the fields of diplomacy, defense, health, communications, and trade were also signed in Pyongyang during General Secretary To Lam's visit.
