VTV.vn - On October 11, General Secretary To Lam attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Na Ngoi Primary and Secondary Boarding School in Na Ngoi commune (Nghe An province).

This is a project implemented according to the Politburo 's policy on investing in the construction of 248 primary and secondary boarding schools in the mainland border communes.

Attending the ceremony were Politburo members: Phan Dinh Trac, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Party Central Committee's Internal Affairs Commission; Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Party Central Committee's Inspection Commission; Nguyen Xuan Thang, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics; General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense; General Luong Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security .

Also attending were Party Central Committee members: Vo Thi Anh Xuan, Vice President; Ho Duc Phoc, Deputy Prime Minister; Tran Quang Phuong, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; Pham Gia Tuc, Chief of the Party Central Committee Office; Nguyen Kim Son, Minister of Education and Training; Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Deputy Minister of National Defense; and leaders of central ministries, branches and sectors; leaders of Nghe An province and teachers and students of Na Ngoi commune.

The Na Ngoi Primary and Secondary Boarding School project has an area of ​​about 5.5 hectares, with a total investment of nearly 240 billion VND from the State and socialized capital. The project is invested in a modern and synchronous manner with 49 classrooms and dormitories, dining halls, playgrounds, experience areas, production areas... When put into operation, the project will help more than 1,900 students in the border area to study and develop comprehensively in knowledge, skills, physical strength, spirit and personality, contributing to preserving cultural identity, creating a source of future cadres for the locality, strengthening national defense and security in the border area.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, General Secretary To Lam emphasized: In recent years, despite many difficulties, the Party and State have paid great attention to the border areas. In reality, the school system, especially inter-level boarding schools in border communes, is still very inadequate, causing many limitations in the learning conditions of students. Therefore, investing in the construction of 248 inter-level boarding schools is a correct policy with profound humanistic significance, demonstrating the special attention of the Party and State to people in border areas, remote and disadvantaged areas. Building schools is not only to provide children with better learning conditions, but also aims at the long-term goal of improving the quality of life of people in border areas, contributing to preserving national territorial sovereignty from the roots. That is the people, the community of residents attached to the land, the forest, the border and landmarks.

The General Secretary suggested that the Provincial Party Committee, the People's Committee of Nghe An province and Na Ngoi commune should resolutely take action, considering this a particularly important political task, which must be done well, quickly and effectively; ensuring the site, infrastructure, and capital disbursement on schedule, while at the same time, creating the most favorable conditions for construction units and future teaching work. Design, construction, consulting and supervision units need to carry out the construction with all their hearts and with the highest sense of responsibility, considering this a place to entrust the trust and dreams of the border people; must ensure the quality of the project, labor safety, techniques and aesthetics, worthy of being a model school in the border area.

The Party Committee, the government, organizations and people of Na Ngoi commune need to continue to pay attention so that students can study in a complete environment; link school construction with preserving national cultural identity, teaching literacy must go hand in hand with teaching people, teaching human morality, love for homeland and country. "People in the area continue to accompany, support and share so that the project can be implemented smoothly. This is the school of our children, of our people, so we must preserve and cultivate it together," the General Secretary instructed.

General Secretary To Lam requested central ministries and branches to closely coordinate with local Party committees, authorities, village elders, village chiefs, and armed forces to mobilize people to take care of education, considering schools as "fortresses" of knowledge, culture, and patriotism at the border. All parties should strengthen propaganda, create social consensus, promote the role of the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations, mobilize social resources, businesses, and individuals to accompany the Party and State on the journey of "Helping children go to school".

General Secretary To Lam believes that with the determination of the entire political system, the consensus of the people, especially the affection and responsibility of teachers in the border areas of the Fatherland, we will successfully build a boarding school system in 248 border communes so that every child in the highlands and remote areas will have the opportunity to study, develop and reach a bright future.

The province prepares the best and most complete conditions in terms of teachers, programs, and facilities to soon put the project into effective operation, becoming a school of knowledge, of faith, of aspirations for the children of the people in the border areas of the Fatherland...

On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam presented the school with a photo of “Uncle Ho wearing a red scarf for students” – a sacred symbol showing Uncle Ho’s care for the younger generation. The General Secretary and the delegation presented many gifts to students in Na Ngoi commune; presented 50 gifts to 50 poor households and policy families in Na Ngoi commune – demonstrating the sharing of the Party and State with people in the border area.
