(CLO) In his speech last Monday, US President Donald Trump criticized European leaders, including British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

In a social media post, US President Donald Trump criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for claiming that a peace deal with Russia is still "very, very far away".

"This is the worst statement Zelenskyy could have made, and America will not tolerate it any longer! He does not want peace while the United States supports it," Trump wrote.

President Trump also took aim at British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and other European leaders, saying they had admitted they could not resolve the Ukraine issue without US support.

“In the meeting with Zelenskyy, they bluntly said that they cannot do anything without the United States – perhaps this is not a good statement to show strength to Russia. What are they thinking?” he said.

The diplomatic standoff between the US and Ukraine began last Friday, when Mr. Zelenskyy left the White House after a heated debate with President Trump and Vice President JD Vance in front of the global media. By Monday evening, Mr. Trump continued to warn that President Zelenskyy “won’t be around very long” if the war doesn’t end soon.

"It can be done very quickly. It shouldn't be too difficult. Maybe somebody doesn't want to make the deal, and if they do, I don't think they'll be around very long," Trump said at a White House press conference.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer tried to act as a bridge between the US and Europe by hosting a summit of 19 leaders, including European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, on Sunday. However, he appeared to disagree with French President Emmanuel Macron on the "coalition of the willing" that Britain and France are expected to lead.

As he presented his plan in the House of Commons, Mr Starmer received praise for his diplomacy but also faced tough questions about his support for President Trump. He rejected calls from MPs to cancel King Charles III’s invitation to Mr Trump for a second official visit, and stressed that any solution to Ukraine and European security would require close cooperation with the US.
