The appearance of the new generation Toyota Hilux – a pickup truck on the same platform, is considered a sign that the next generation Fortuner is in the process of completion. Toyota Fortuner is currently one of the popular mid-size SUVs in Southeast Asia and India, so the launch of a new generation is considered necessary to maintain competitiveness. In terms of design, initial information shows that Fortuner will continue to have a separate front end, instead of sharing the entire front end with Hilux. Toyota is said to adjust the appearance to better suit the family customer group.
The new generation Toyota Fortuner SUV will have a square shape, a new grille and streamlined LED lights. The overall design is more modern but still retains the characteristics of a separate chassis SUV. Inside, the new Fortuner is expected to be upgraded in terms of technology and comfort. According to CarsGuide magazine (Australia), the car may switch to using a digital clock cluster. The central screen is likely to be designed as a monolithic block in the dashboard and comes with the new generation Toyota Safety Sense safety system. In terms of operation, the new generation Toyota Fortuner is expected to add a 2.8L mild-hybrid diesel engine version, similar to the Hilux and Land Cruiser Prado.
This configuration promises to help improve fuel consumption and reduce emissions. Toyota may also simplify the product range, keeping only the 2.8L engine option in key markets. A source from CarsGuide said that the GR Sport sports version is still likely to appear. This model can be refined suspension and improved power, aiming for better performance in complex terrain conditions. Although there is no official launch date yet, Toyota will likely introduce the new Fortuner in 2026. This SUV will continue to compete with the Ford Everest, Isuzu mu-X, Mitsubishi Montero Sport and Nissan Terra in the mid-size SUV segment.
Users expect the new generation Fortuner to have clear changes in design, technology and transmission, and improve the driving experience compared to the current generation. If as predicted, this will be one of the most comprehensive upgrades of the Fortuner line since its launch. Video : Revealing the new generation Toyota Fortuner SUV model.
