After expanding its administrative boundaries, Ho Chi Minh City now possesses more than 680 exploitable tourism resources, from vibrant urban spaces to craft villages, rivers and suburban ecological zones.

The launch of culinary tours is considered an important step to diversify tourism products, stimulate consumption and affirm Vietnam's position as a "culinary paradise".

If previously culinary tours were mainly limited to the central area, now visitors have the opportunity to explore cuisine across the Southeast region with many new itineraries.

Among more than 20 new culinary tours, the “Unique Cuisine of Binh Duong” tour has received the attention of many tourists. This is a program that combines unique cuisine, traditional cultural space and interesting check-in points in the old Binh Duong area on weekends. Tour price from 500,000 VND/person.

Tourists will start their journey with My Lien rice cake - a dish with a hundred-year history honored in the top 50 Vietnamese specialties. Then, tourists will stroll along the poetic Bach Dang riverside street, visit Phu Cuong Church with impressive Gothic style and Tran Van Ho Ancient House - a relic preserving traditional Southern architecture.

Next is a stop at Ba Chua Xu Temple in Binh Duong - a sacred place closely associated with the spiritual life of local people.

In the afternoon, visitors can visit the ginseng wine production experience area and enjoy black garlic coffee - a unique drink, combining the rich flavor of coffee with the characteristic aroma of black garlic, bringing a new experience to the taste buds.

With a gentle schedule, unique destinations and dishes bearing the regional mark, the "Unique Cuisine of Binh Duong" tour is expected to become an ideal choice for tourists who want to experience local cuisine in a gentle way.

Green and sustainable cuisine - new direction of tourism in Ho Chi Minh City

Besides the journey to explore Binh Duong, Ho Chi Minh City also has many other unique tours. One of them is “Food tour in the Gen Z way” (Penguin Travel Company) with an experience combining eating, exploring, and entertainment for young people.

On this tour, visitors will have breakfast with bread and coffee in Ho Chi Minh City, stroll around Ben Thanh market, take the Ben Thanh - An Phu metro, join a cooking class at Madame Lam and end the tour with a Go Kart race at Vincom Mega Mall Thao Dien.

The tour “Vung Tau - Irresistible Delicacies” (2 days 1 night) with price from 500,000 VND/person for groups of friends who love the sea is also highly appreciated.

The tour takes visitors to enjoy Co Ba's banh khot, Ong Gia Cali's squid noodles, relax at the rooftop cafe and end with Eastern European-style multi-layered honey cake and black tea.

There is also the "Culinary Essence of Ho Chi Minh City" tour, which evokes memories of old Saigon through fried breadsticks dipped in Bretel coffee, rice paper rolls stacked on plates, and panoramic views of the city from Social Club Saigon.

A highlight of the new tour series is the “Ho Chi Minh City - Binh Duong - Vung Tau Culinary Journey” (3 days 2 nights) operated by TST Tourist. The tour takes visitors to start the morning with Sam Ngoc Linh pho, visit Windmill film studio and Ba Thien Hau pagoda in Binh Duong, before continuing to the coastal city to enjoy Co Ba Vung Tau banh khot.

On this tour, visitors can also check in at Suoi Ben Bien Cafe and visit the Robert Taylor Museum of Antique Weapons. Each stop is a vivid slice of local cuisine, people and culture.

Many tours also incorporate green and sustainable culinary elements, such as “Discovering Hikari Tokyu Binh Duong” - where visitors learn about the model of processing organic waste into bio-fertilizer - or tours of restaurants using solar energy and recycled materials.

Not only stopping at launching products, Ho Chi Minh City hopes that the new culinary tour chain will contribute to bringing the number of international visitors to 10 million, with tourism revenue reaching VND290,000 billion this year.

With a new approach, combining cuisine, culture and experience, the program is expected to help Ho Chi Minh City strengthen its brand as “City of Flavors”, while expanding the journey of discovering Vietnamese cuisine to the entire Southeast region - where cuisine is both familiar and strange, both traditional and creative.

According to Ms. Bui Thi Ngoc Hieu - Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism - the launch of this tour package is part of the strategy to make cuisine a key tourism product, contributing to the implementation of the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Development Project to 2030.

“These culinary tour programs are not only a journey of flavor discovery but also tell stories about the culture, history and people of Ho Chi Minh City,” said Ms. Hieu.
