Awarding the Certificate of Merit to Martyr Ho Tan Duong

On March 5, Colonel Nguyen Van Hieu, Director of Dong Thap Provincial Police, presented the decision and the Prime Minister's Certificate of Merit to the family of martyr Ho Tan Duong, former Deputy Captain of the Criminal Investigation Team on Economic and Drug Crimes of Lap Vo District Police.

The ceremony to present the decision and the certificate of national merit was witnessed by representatives of the provincial Department, leaders of Lap Vo district, comrades and relatives of martyr Ho Tan Duong.

Previously, at about 10:30 a.m. on August 4, 2022, while on duty to arrest two suspects who committed a property theft on National Highway N2B in Lap Vo district, Captain Ho Tan Duong, a police officer of Lap Vo district, was fiercely resisted by the suspects, leading to an accident and his death while on the way to the emergency room.

In recognition of Captain Duong's sacrifice, on August 4, 2022, General To Lam, Minister of Public Security, signed a decision to promote Captain Duong from captain to major ahead of schedule.

Colonel Nguyen Van Hieu, Director of Dong Thap Provincial Police, said that the sacrifice of Major Ho Tan Duong was an irreparable loss and pain for his family. At the same time, he demonstrated the spirit of the People's Police "Forgetting oneself for the country, serving the people" and hoped that his family would continue to uphold the tradition, continue to overcome difficulties, and rise up in life.

On this occasion, Colonel Vo Thi Hoai Ngoc, Deputy Director of Dong Thap Provincial Police, presented a gift of 10 million VND from the Provincial Police to the family of martyr Ho Tan Duong.
