Exhibition of 100 years of Vietnamese Revolutionary Journalism in Binh Duong: Flow of memories, passing on the "fire" of journalism

From June 18 to 22, 2025, Binh Duong Provincial Convention and Exhibition Center will organize an exhibition of images and artifacts to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day. This is not only a cultural and political event with a special mark, the exhibition is also a place to recall, pay tribute and inspire journalism through each historical period.

Many journalists took souvenir photos at the exhibition

The exhibition is directed by the Vietnam Journalists Association of Binh Duong province, directed by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with Binh Duong Newspaper, Binh Duong Radio and Television Station, Binh Duong Provincial Museum and Library. This is a great effort to recreate the 100-year journey of revolutionary journalism, especially the imprint of Binh Duong journalism - from the Song Be period (1975-1996) to the present (1997-2025).

Mr. Tran Minh Khiem, Head of the Press and Publishing Information Department (Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism), said: “The exhibition is divided into two main stages, including: Song Be Press and Binh Duong Press. Each stage is associated with important turning points in the development history of the province and the country, shown through hundreds of photos and valuable artifacts”.

Some artifacts on display at the exhibition

The exhibition space is organized into 8 thematic categories, from Uncle Ho's image with revolutionary journalism; journalism activities during the resistance war; to working moments, digital transformation in Binh Duong journalism and works winning the Nguyen Van Tiet Journalism Award in 2025.

One artifact that has attracted special attention is a set of metal type discovered in Tan Uyen district in 1998. This is a precious artifact, associated with a difficult but resilient period of resistance of revolutionary journalism.

Journalist Dang Van Hiep, former Head of the Culture - Society Department of Binh Duong Newspaper, shared: “I was really moved when I saw the set of metal typefaces again, a living testament of journalism in the war zone. This set of typefaces was used to print documents, books and newspapers at a printing factory during the resistance war against the US. The letters, vowels and consonants were cast in lead. Workers at that time had to be properly trained to arrange the letters, combine them into sentences and articles, and then put them into manual printing machines. All of these steps were done by hand, under extremely difficult conditions. But it was from those primitive letters that the voice of the revolution and the people still reached the people, adding strength to the resistance movement. The set of metal typefaces is not only a precious souvenir, a precious memory, but also a symbol of the spirit of dedicated, persistent and idealistic journalism during the war years.”

The set of movable type was discovered in Tan Uyen district in 1998. This is a precious artifact, associated with a difficult but resilient resistance period of revolutionary journalism.

Emotions do not stop at the artifacts, but also spread through each story, each nostalgic look of journalists when they relive the past, where they once shed sweat, tears and passion for each news line and page. Journalist Nguyen Thi Anh Thu (Binh Duong Radio and Television Station) shared: “The exhibition is like a film rewinding in time. Each press product is arranged by period, not only recalling memories, but also reminding us of our responsibility, of the years we devoted ourselves to bringing information to the people in a timely and accurate manner.”
