The parade began with 21 volleys of artillery to the National Anthem of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Then there was a performance by 9 helicopters carrying the Party flag and the national flag flying over the stage. Next was a performance by the parade block consisting of 4 ceremonial blocks, 24 blocks of the army, militia, police and a parade block with 9 blocks of veterans, youth volunteers, frontline workers, workers, farmers, intellectuals, youth, women, the block of ethnic groups in the Northwest and finally a performance by the art block.

Previously, the Ministry of National Defense had restored the bicycle-packing vehicle used in the Dien Bien Phu campaign and trained a group of frontline laborers (played by soldiers of the 3rd division) to serve in the parade.

The parade is an important highlight in the 70th Anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024) to demonstrate force and affirm the significance, stature and great historical value of Dien Bien Phu Victory.

The last time Vietnam held a parade to celebrate the Dien Bien Phu victory was in 2014 in Dien Bien province.
