Elementary school organizes fun 'olympics' for students and parents

On the morning of October 20, the yard of Nguyen Thai Hoc Primary School, Ben Thanh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City was more bustling than usual. Students brought trumpets, drums, cheering sticks, etc., excitedly waiting to participate in the physical education festival "Nguyen Thai Hoc - The 4th Olympics, school year 2025-2026" organized by the school.

Students and parents cheered loudly when representatives of teachers, students and leaders of Nguyen Thai Hoc Primary School carried the torch, officially opening the festival.

Immediately after that, the young athletes competed in the tug of war. Each class sent out a team to compete with the same total body mass. All the athletes wore sneakers, except the athlete standing at the end of the line who was required to wear a helmet to ensure safety when tug of war.

The matches were intense and exciting not only because of the "play hard" spirit of the athletes but also because of the excited shouts, trumpet playing, drumming... of the cheerleaders who were students, teachers and parents.

Dang Anh, a student in grade 4/5, said: "I have participated in the physical education festival since grade 1, and every year I look forward to this day. Because the festival is very fun and relaxing. We get to play to our heart's content in the yard, it's very cool and comfortable.

This year I am participating in two competitions: tug of war and soccer. I hope to "shine" in this year's physical education festival, because these are two sports that I love and play quite well."

Meanwhile, Hai Lam, a student in class 1/5, thought very simply: "This morning, my class did not have to study in class but played in the physical education festival. I had a tug-of-war competition but winning or losing is not important. Just being able to participate in activities makes me happy."

According to Ms. Tran Be Hong Hanh, Principal of Nguyen Thai Hoc Primary School, this is the fourth year the school has organized the "Nguyen Thai Hoc - Olympics" physical education festival to create a useful playground for students, help them exercise, and promote the sports movement at school.

"This playground is loved and awaited by many students every year. The festival not only has group A for students (with competitions such as: soccer, basketball, tug of war, vovinam, badminton, chess, table tennis), but also group B for parents - teachers - school staff (with competitions such as: badminton, volleyball, table tennis, tug of war). When students see their parents and teachers competing, they cheer enthusiastically and excitedly.

The Physical Education Festival aims to create a joyful atmosphere, train teamwork, healthy competition, confidence, dexterity, creativity... of students. In addition, we also hope that through common activities, students, parents and teachers will have more exchanges, connections, and strengthen the relationship between school and family, contributing to building a happy school" - Ms. Hanh emphasized.

Mr. Dinh The Huy, a parent of a student in class 2/6, shared that he and his daughter both participated in the school's physical education festival this year: "Last year I participated in the festival and found it to be a truly useful activity, not just a movement. So this year I continued to participate in tug of war, and my daughter competed in women's soccer.

I am very satisfied with the way the school educates students. Because in the current context, we not only care about knowledge but also want our children to receive physical education, develop their talents, and develop their skills...".
