Grand opening of Bac Ha White Plateau Festival 2024

Speaking at the opening night, Mr. Hoang Van Khoa, Vice Chairman of Bac Ha District People's Committee, Head of the Bac Ha White Plateau Festival Organizing Committee, emphasized: Bac Ha is a land rich in traditional cultural identity of ethnic groups. This place has a fresh, cool climate, beautiful and majestic natural landscape; it is an attractive tourist destination with many caves, waterfalls, hills of plum blossoms, and pure white pear blossoms throughout the mountains and forests. This place is also known for the world- famous Bac Ha market or the horse racing festival honored as a national intangible cultural heritage.

On the evening of March 8, the opening ceremony of the Bac Ha White Plateau Festival 2024 took place in a jubilant and exciting atmosphere in Bac Ha.

To introduce the beauty, value and precious assets to the people and tourists, Bac Ha organizes a series of unique and magnificent cultural and artistic tourism activities, rich in the unique cultural identity of the White Plateau. Through the event, the image of Bac Ha will be known to more people, spreading the tourism image of the locality.

With the theme “Intoxicated by Spring”, the Bac Ha White Plateau Festival is the opening event for the four-season festival series in Bac Ha. Within the framework of the event, there are also attractive cultural and sports activities such as: Mountain climbing competition to conquer the Ba Me Con peak, Bac Ha Temple Festival, experiencing the fair, visiting the community tourism village, etc.

Despite the drizzling and cold weather, the Bac Ha district stadium area had a large number of people and tourists attending the opening ceremony of the Bac Ha White Plateau Festival.

With a stage that was elaborately and magnificently set up, a modern lighting system, combined with decorative images bearing the mark of the plateau, the special art program performed by actors, singers, artists from the Provincial Ethnic Arts Troupe, students of Lao Cai College and extras from Bac Ha district brought an impressive opening night to the people and visitors.

The unique and attractive cultural performances through art such as: lucky rituals, Bac Ha market, horse racing, wedding procession... attracted the attention of tourists, creating an art night that was both solemn and attractive.

In particular, on the opening night, in the form of dramatization, the artists performed and recreated the Bac Ha horse racing festival in a lively and unique way. This festival was recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage on May 27, 2021 and has become a unique tourism product associated with the White Plateau brand.

At the end of the art program honoring the intangible cultural heritage of "Traditional horse racing festival of Bac Ha district" and opening the Bac Ha White Plateau Festival with the theme "Intoxicated by spring", people and tourists enjoyed the strong footsteps of the Red Dao youth in Nam Det commune with a traditional fire dance performance.
