Strategic traffic axis

At the end of September, Dong Nai province held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Inter-Port Road Construction Project (Phase 1). According to the plan, the inter-port road is more than 15km long, the starting point of the route connects with the boundary of Ong Keo Industrial Park and the end point connects with the road to Viet Thuan Thanh Port.

According to the Project Management Board of Region 6, the project investor, in phase 1, the project will build a route of more than 8.8km long, divided into 2 sections: section 1 is 6.9km long, with 8 lanes; section 2 is 1.9km long, with 4 lanes. The project will invest in building 5 bridges on the route.

Director of Project Management Board of Region 6 Tran Dai Duong said: The Inter-port Road Project is invested and built with the goal of connecting the system of seaports according to the province's planning, thereby increasing port exploitation capacity. Along with that, this will be a route that contributes to promoting the development of traffic infrastructure, forming new residential areas, creating "attraction" to attract investment in industrial parks to contribute to sustainable economic development for Nhon Trach urban area in particular and Dong Nai province in general.

According to the Master Plan for the development of Vietnam's seaport system in the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, out of a total of 3 seaport areas in the province, Nhon Trach new urban area has 2 seaport areas with the largest number of seaports in the province. However, in recent years, attracting investment in seaport construction projects in this area has encountered many difficulties. The main reason is that the road traffic network serving the connection of seaports has not been invested synchronously. Therefore, the official implementation of the Inter-Port Road Project will bring new momentum in attracting investment in planned seaports in the area as well as create conditions for better exploitation of seaports that have been invested in and built.

Comrade Vo Tan Duc, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, assessed: The Inter-Port Road Project Phase 1, when completed, will play a role in connecting the road traffic system of seaport areas, creating favorable conditions for investment and exploitation of the seaport system. At the same time, it will contribute to the formation of a civilized, modern, and unique riverside urban system, associated with the goal of green and smart development.

In particular, in the context of the Long Thanh International Airport (Airport) Phase 1 being prepared to be put into operation, this is also a route that creates opportunities to take advantage of the development from the airport. From there, promoting the formation of a chain of ports - logistics - industrial parks - riverside urban areas, contributing to the economic breakthrough of Dong Nai, affirming its position in the key economic region of the South.

"When completed, the inter-port road will become a strategic traffic axis" - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Tan Duc emphasized.

Complete site clearance in November 2025

To serve the project construction, from mid-2024, Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee has decided to approve the feasibility study report to implement the Project of Compensation, support, resettlement, and site clearance for the inter-port road phase 1.

To carry out the construction of phase 1 of the inter-port road, the authorities will have to reclaim nearly 52 hectares of land; along with that, arrange resettlement for about 251 households. The total investment of the Project for Compensation, Support, Resettlement, and Site Clearance of the Inter-Port Road Phase 1 is nearly 1.2 trillion VND, with the implementation period from 2024 to 2026. However, with the goal of shortening the time and soon completing the handover of the entire site to serve the project's construction, recently, the authorities have focused on speeding up the progress of site clearance for the project.

The Inter-Port Road Project Phase 1 has a total investment of more than 2.6 trillion VND. According to the signed contract, the project will be completed in 36 months, but the contractor consortium aims to shorten the construction time to 30 months, completing and putting the project into operation by the end of March 2028.

Party Secretary and Chairman of the People's Council of Dai Phuoc Commune, Nguyen The Phong, said: The Inter-Port Road Project Phase 1 passes through the commune, so right after implementing the 2-level local government model, Dai Phuoc Commune has closely coordinated with specialized agencies to continue implementing the procedures of site clearance previously implemented by the old Nhon Trach district. Up to now, for this project, about 62% of the site area has been handed over.

“Dai Phuoc Commune is focusing on completing procedures for the remaining files; at the same time, coordinating with the Nhon Trach branch of the Land Fund Development Center to disburse money to households. The goal is to complete and hand over the entire project site in November 2025,” said Mr. Nguyen The Phong.
