Prime Minister: Vietnam identifies logistics as one of three growth drivers

FIATA is a non-governmental organization representing freight forwarding companies in approximately 150 countries and territories. FIATA has 113 Association members and more than 6,000 individual members, representing 40,000 freight forwarding and logistics companies worldwide .

FIATA World Congress is the largest annual event in the global logistics industry. FIATA World Congress 2025 was held in Vietnam on the occasion of FIATA's 99th anniversary. The event attracted more than 1,039 delegates from over 100 countries. Taking place from October 6 to 10, the congress included a series of in-depth discussion sessions, focusing on many key topics of the transport and logistics industry.

Delegates discussed in depth issues such as cross-border e-commerce and the booming demand for logistics; digital transformation and innovation, the driving force for green logistics development; developing flexible supply chains and modernizing cold chains; restructuring global trade in the context of geopolitical fluctuations; economic corridors and new-generation transport corridors to enhance regional connectivity and international integration; water and rail transport, key solutions to building sustainable supply chains.

Within the framework of the congress, there will be an exhibition with more than 120 booths and a connection program on a modern technology platform. In particular, the Young Logistics Talent Awards ceremony will honor the creative young generation, the pioneers shaping the future of the global logistics industry.

Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, on behalf of General Secretary To Lam and leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam, sent the best wishes to the Congress; emphasizing that the FIATA Congress 2025 with the theme "Green, Adaptive Logistics" is an event of special importance.

This is not only an opportunity for the global logistics community to meet, connect and cooperate, but also a forum for us to discuss new trends, find creative solutions, and move towards developing a modern, green, sustainable logistics industry that is highly adaptable to the current ever-changing world situation.

FIATA’s selection of Vietnam as the host country for this year’s Congress and Hanoi as the venue demonstrates the great trust of the international community in general and the world logistics industry in particular in the role, potential and development aspirations of Vietnam in the logistics sector. At the same time, this is also a valuable opportunity for Vietnam to continue introducing to international friends a peaceful, stable, innovative, dynamic, friendly and hospitable Vietnam.

According to the Prime Minister, in the current context of globalization and deep international integration, logistics is increasingly asserting its role as the "blood vessel" of the economy, a bridge between production, circulation, distribution and consumption.

As a country located on international maritime and air routes with a coastline of more than 3,200km, a rich system of seaports, airports and border gates, Vietnam has all the conditions to become an important logistics center in the region. Vietnam identifies logistics as one of the three growth drivers, a fundamental factor to connect manufacturing industries, localities and connect Vietnam with the world.

The Prime Minister said that recently, Vietnam has been implementing many synchronous and drastic solutions for the development of the logistics industry; developing transport infrastructure with all five modes of aviation, maritime, inland waterway, road and rail.

In particular, synchronously and drastically deploy investment in developing seaports such as Cai Mep - Thi Vai, Da Nang, Quy Nhon, Hue, Vung Ang, Hai Phong...; build airports in Hanoi, Hai Phong, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, especially Long Thanh international airport; speed up the construction and completion of the North - South expressway system, coastal roads; prepare to start construction of standard railway lines connecting with China, the North - South high-speed railway line...

Vietnam has issued and applied many strong incentive policies for businesses and investors in the logistics sector such as: Exemption and reduction of corporate income tax for new investment projects; incentives on land rent and infrastructure in industrial parks and economic zones; support for research and application of technology, especially green technology, digital technology, high technology; priority for quick licensing for a number of environmentally friendly logistics projects... Vietnam promotes digital transformation in logistics, builds smart logistics centers; promotes the development of green and sustainable logistics industry; focuses on training high-quality human resources for the logistics industry.

Analyzing the current and future world situation, the Prime Minister said that there are many factors that have a major impact on regional and international supply chains, affecting production, business and goods circulation activities of enterprises. Therefore, it is necessary to promote multilateralism, connect with each other, for peace, cooperation, development, bring a happy and prosperous life to all people in the world, no one is left behind.

With the desire to strengthen international cooperation in the field of logistics to jointly develop a modern, green and sustainable international logistics industry, the Prime Minister proposed that the FIATA community and international enterprises, together with Vietnam, carry out 5 promotions: Promoting innovation and digital transformation in logistics; promoting cooperation in developing green and sustainable logistics; promoting cooperation in training high-quality human resources in the field of logistics; promoting connection of transport routes and logistics centers between countries, regions and the world; promoting logistics connection of transport modes.

The Prime Minister said that Vietnam implements "3 guarantees": Ensuring the most favorable conditions for domestic and foreign enterprises to participate in investing in logistics development in Vietnam; ensuring the legitimate and legal rights and interests of domestic and international investors and enterprises in the logistics sector; ensuring political stability, security, social order and safety, maintaining independence, territorial integrity, a transparent and safe investment environment, continuing to improve institutions, mechanisms and policies to promote public-private cooperation and multi-party cooperation in the logistics industry.

Along with that, Vietnam implements "3 together" including: Listening and understanding between enterprises, the State and the people, between domestic and international partners; sharing vision and actions to cooperate and support each other for rapid and sustainable development; working together, winning together, enjoying together, developing together, sharing joy, happiness and pride.

According to the Prime Minister, the FIATA Congress 2025 is an opportunity to promote closer cooperation, together shaping a greener, smarter, more modern global logistics industry, a logistics industry that actively contributes to trade, investment, growth and common prosperity of humanity. With the motto of "Solidarity - Responsible Cooperation - Sustainable Development", Vietnam is ready to be a reliable partner, a safe and attractive destination for the international logistics business community.
