Vietnam women's team to face Philippines, Myanmar and Malaysia at SEA Games

(NLDO) - The lucky draw at SEA Games 33 - 2025 has put the Vietnamese women's team in group B with opponents including the Philippines, Myanmar and Malaysia.

According to the draw conducted by host Thailand on the afternoon of October 19, the Vietnamese women's team fell into group B with Myanmar, the Philippines and Malaysia. Meanwhile, host Thailand will face Cambodia, Singapore and Indonesia.

In the women's football category, the Vietnamese women's team is ranked as the number 1 seed, along with host Thailand, Myanmar and Cambodia, who are in the number 2 seed. The Philippines and Singapore are the number 3 seeds. The remaining seed groups are Malaysia and Indonesia.

In the women's football category, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team are the defending champions of the tournament. The Vietnamese women's team is also the most successful team with 8 gold medals, 3 more than Thailand.

In particular, Vietnamese women's football is also holding a streak of 4 consecutive gold medals (2017, 2019, 2021 and 2023).

The women's football competition will be played in a round-robin format, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals. The women's football competition is scheduled to take place from December 4 to 17, with the first match of Group B for the Vietnamese women's team taking place on December 5.

The semi-finals will take place on December 14, and the final and third-place match will be on December 17. The women's football matches will take place at Chonburi Stadium (Thailand).
