Vietnam - Thailand women's team: The goal is to preserve strength

After two wins against Cambodia and Indonesia, the Vietnamese women's team has soon completed the goal of winning tickets to the semi-finals of the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Championship. The Philippines women's team will meet Myanmar in the final round, while U23 Australia will meet Timor Leste.

U23 Australia will likely take 3 points against Timor Leste to have 6 points after 3 matches. That situation forces the Philippines to beat Myanmar by at least 2 goals if they do not want to become the former champion. But Myanmar, who beat U23 Australia 2-1 in the first round, will not let that happen easily. Therefore, the opportunity for the three teams Myanmar, U23 Australia and Philippines to continue to the semi-finals is still intact.

Therefore, the Vietnamese women's team needs to be ready to meet any of these opponents in the semi-finals. The final match of Group B will take place one day after Vietnam plays Thailand, so it is meaningless for the Vietnamese team to calculate and choose an opponent in the semi-finals.

Therefore, instead of going all out against Thailand to win the top spot, the problem that the coaching staff of the Vietnamese women's team needs to consider now is how to get a good result against Thailand while still preserving the strongest force for the semi-final match. If they cannot win, a draw against Thailand is not a bad thing.
