After the FIFA Days training session in October, the Vietnamese team marked an important step forward by moving up 3 places, reaching 111th in the world with 1,183.62 points, according to Footy Rankings statistics.

This achievement comes after two consecutive victories against Nepal in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, helping the "Golden Star Warriors" consolidate their position as number 2 in Southeast Asia, just behind Thailand (ranked 96).

Under coach Kim Sang Sik, the Vietnamese team has maintained stable performance, despite previously dropping in rank in September due to not playing international friendly matches.

Compared to the region, the Vietnamese team is still far ahead of Indonesia (ranked 122, lost 13 points after two defeats against Saudi Arabia and Iraq) and Malaysia (ranked 118, just beat Laos 5-1).

Currently, Vietnam is ranked second in Group F of the Asian Cup qualifiers with 9 points after 4 matches, 3 points behind Malaysia. Coach Kim Sang Sik and his team will meet Laos in November before entering the "final" match with Malaysia in March 2026 - where the top spot in the group and a ticket to Saudi Arabia will be decided.
