With high determination, both U16 Vietnam and U16 Thailand took the initiative to attack after the opening whistle. In the 7th minute, the header was quite difficult for the U16 Thailand player but goalkeeper Thang Long made an excellent save.
After the first 10 minutes of fairly even play, the Thai U16 players began to put constant pressure on the Vietnamese U16 field. The team from the Golden Temple had the upper hand in terms of ball control time and danger in their attacks.

In the first half, coach Tran Minh Chien's students had a hard time defending against the strong attacks of U16 Thailand.
In the 36th minute, Tan Dung took a corner kick, the ball rolled towards the far corner, causing the Thai U16 goalkeeper to fumble and almost put the ball into his own net. A few minutes later, the Vietnamese U16 quickly threw the ball into the net, creating a good opportunity, but unfortunately the red shirt player's shot hit the Thai defender. The first half ended with a score of 0-0.
In the second half, U16 Vietnam had a better game. In the 52nd minute, the Korean referee paused the match to directly watch the VAR screen, then decided to award U16 Vietnam a penalty when determining that Hong Quang was fouled by a Thai player in the penalty area.
On the 11m mark, Hong Phong did not miss the opportunity to open the score for the home team with a kick right into the middle of the U16 Thailand goal.
A minute later, U16 Thailand had a good chance to equalize but the blue shirt player's diagonal shot from within the 5m50 box sent the ball wide of Thang Long's goal.
In the 60th minute, U16 Thailand equalized 1-1. The ball was put into the net of U16 Vietnam from Phothong's header. VAR technology intervened and the goal was recognized for U16 Thailand when there was no foul by the blue-shirted center back with the Vietnamese player.
In the 76th minute, the referee stopped the match again to listen to the VAR team's advice when Hong Phong fell in the Thailand U16 penalty area. However, there was no second penalty for coach Tran Minh Chien's team.

The match had 12 minutes of extra time. The U16 Thai players pushed up their formation to pressure U16 Vietnam.
In the 90+3 minute, starting from an attack on the right wing of U16 Thailand, Chaiwat finished to the far corner, defeating goalkeeper Thang Long for the second time, raising the score to 2-1.
In the remaining minutes, U16 Vietnam played very hard but could not equalize, had to accept a 1-2 loss, and could not enter the final of the 2024 Southeast Asian U16 tournament.
