Before her seemingly "dreamy" love story, Ana Ivanovic was known as a female tennis player who held the world No. 1 position with many impressive achievements.

Glorious career

Ivanovic turned professional in 2003. In early 2005, she made a big splash after defeating Melinda Czink in the final and winning the title at the Canberra International.

Two years later, Ivanovic reached her first Grand Slam final after defeating Kuznetsova and Sharapova, but lost to senior Justine Henin. In early 2008, she lost again in the Australian Open final to Maria Sharapova.

Those failures could not discourage the female tennis player and in the final match of the 2008 French Open, she excellently won the title after defeating Russian tennis player Dinara Safina. With this achievement, she rose to the number 1 position in the women's tennis world.

However, after that, Ivanovic had a long period of continuous decline in form and lost his world number 1 position.

On December 28, 2016, she officially announced her retirement from tennis. After retiring, Ivanovic is said to have found a passion for skin care and developed a brand called Ana Ivanovic Natural Performance.

In June 2011, she was voted one of the 30 greatest female tennis legends by Time magazine, and was included in Matthew Cronin's list of the 100 greatest tennis players of all time.

The regrettable love story of two sports icons

Ana Ivanovic and footballer Bastian Schweinsteiger are considered by fans to be one of the most beautiful couples in the sports world. Ivanovic is a tennis icon and Schweinsteiger is a German football legend.

The two were first spotted together in September 2014, holding hands in New York, and later in other places. They went public with their relationship in February 2015.

That fairy tale love story came to fruition in July 2016, with their wedding taking place in Venice shortly before Ivanovic announced his retirement in December.

The two have left beautiful moments when posting many sweet pictures on their personal pages as well as appearing together at sports events. During their time together, they have created a model of a happy, warm family.

In 2018, the couple welcomed their first child together, baby boy Luca, followed by baby Leon in 2019, and most recently baby Theo in May 2023.

It was thought that the sweet love story of the two icons would end beautifully, but rumors of a rift in this relationship began to appear at the end of 2024. The two no longer appeared together much in social media posts as well as sporting events.

Ivanovic's legal representative confirmed to the media: "The two decided to divorce due to irreconcilable differences. We will not make any further comments. We hope everyone will respect their privacy as well as their three children."

The Mail Sport reported in April that the couple were in "serious crisis".

While Schweinsteiger has to travel frequently to take on multiple commentary roles, Ivanovic is said to have spent more time in her native Serbia, where she is supported by family in Belgrade to look after her children.

German media shocked the world when they reported that Schweinsteiger was caught kissing a Bulgarian woman named Silva in June. Not only that, they had also previously been on holiday in Morocco and were recently spotted together in Mallorca, Spain.

The breakup of one of the most admired relationships in sports has left many fans with regret.
