On October 15, Viettel High Tech Corporation was recognized by Gartner in the Magic Quadrant for CSP 5G RAN Infrastructure Solutions 2025 report. This information was announced at the international event Open RAN Connect 2025, organized by Viettel in Hanoi. This is an important milestone for Viettel in the field of research on mastering telecommunications infrastructure, affirming its competitiveness as well as its global position.

Gartner Magic Quadrant is a prestigious annual report by Gartner - the world's leading technology analysis organization, providing a comprehensive view of the capabilities of 5G radio access network (RAN) critical infrastructure equipment suppliers. In the telecommunications infrastructure sector, Viettel High Tech is the only Southeast Asian enterprise recognized by Gartner as a group of enterprises with specialized strengths (Niche Player), demonstrating its pioneering role in commercializing 5G Open RAN base stations based on ASIC chipsets (5G-specific integrated circuits), with proven large-scale deployment capabilities in Vietnam in particular and Southeast Asia in general.

Currently, Viettel 5G devices have been widely deployed on the network, with tens of millions of subscribers using Viettel core network (EPC, 5G Core), millions of optical network terminals and wifi access devices, thousands of transmission devices, OCS billing system serving more than 190 million global subscribers, IMS high-quality voice service system serving more than 50 million subscribers...
Mr. Nguyen Vu Ha, Deputy General Director of Viettel Group said: “Viettel is the first network operator in the world to deploy 5G Open RAN with quality equivalent to the world's leading suppliers. We are committed to providing the highest quality products to serve global mobile telecommunications operators.”

In 2025 alone, Viettel will deploy 2,500 5G stations in the provinces of Hanoi , Ninh Binh, Gia Lai, Lam Dong, Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak... Viettel's 5G equipment is designed according to international open standards and has now expanded to international markets such as India, UAE, Turkey... Viettel's 5G stations have demonstrated outstanding performance in terms of coverage, capacity and energy saving up to 24% compared to similar equipment.
Not stopping there, Viettel is continuing to develop advanced generations of 5G (5G-Advanced), 6G, virtualizing the entire network infrastructure... At the same time, maintaining openness and interoperability by continuously participating in technology integration activities; product cooperation with other Open RAN partners in the O-RAN Alliance.

“After more than 10 years of investment and research to master the telecommunications network infrastructure - national digital infrastructure, for the first time Viettel's efforts have been recognized by a prestigious global organization such as Gartner. This is a key factor in promoting the digital economy, digital society and digital government, and is the key for Vietnam to master strategic technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), internet of things (IoT), big data, blockchain, semiconductors...,” said Mr. Nguyen Minh Quang, General Director of Viettel High Tech, adding that this milestone lays a solid foundation for VHT to go further in expanding its market share and developing the global technology ecosystem.
At the event, Mr. Akash Palkhiwala, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Global Operations Officer of Qualcomm, commented: “Viettel has deployed a large-scale 5G Open RAN network, and Qualcomm shares a common vision of an open and sustainable ecosystem. We believe in Vietnam's ability to lead innovation. With 6G, the role of AI and Open RAN technology will become even more important.”

Mr. Nguyen Khac Lich, Director of the Department of Information Technology Industry (Ministry of Science and Technology) affirmed: 5G equipment is a national strategic technology product. Since 2019, the Ministry of Science and Technology has set the goal that Vietnam must master the design, research and production of 5G equipment as a symbol of national technological autonomy. Viettel's choice of the Open RAN direction demonstrates its strategic thinking: not dependent, not locked in technology, but proactively integrating and innovating.

“Today’s event is not only an achievement for Viettel and Qualcomm, but also for the Vietnamese digital technology industry. You have proven that Vietnamese people can master the most difficult technologies, at the highest level – and more importantly, bring Made in Vietnam products to the world,” said Mr. Nguyen Khac Lich.
Viettel High Tech is a high-tech research and production unit of Viettel Group. Viettel's journey to master 5G is notable for its success in deploying a large-scale 5G Open RAN network, supporting both 5G NSA (5G network based on 4G) and 5G SA (5G standalone) along with the entire 5G end-to-end solution ecosystem researched and developed by this enterprise.
