Of the total number of international visitors to Vietnam, 85.1% traveled by air, 13.5% by road and 1.4% by sea.

In terms of market size, China and South Korea continue to be the two largest markets for Vietnamese tourism , contributing nearly half of the total number of international visitors to Vietnam. Of which, China ranked first, reaching 3.9 million arrivals (accounting for 25.2%); South Korea ranked second, reaching 3.2 million arrivals (accounting for 21%).
The following markets include Taiwan (ranked 3rd with 926 thousand arrivals), the US (ranked 4th with 623 thousand arrivals), Japan (ranked 5th with 618 thousand arrivals). In the 10 largest markets of Vietnamese tourism, there are also India (505 thousand arrivals), Cambodia (490 thousand arrivals), Russia (435 thousand arrivals), Malaysia (405 thousand arrivals), Australia (401 thousand arrivals). Notably, India has risen to 6th place in the top 10 leading markets. Russia continues to be the largest market in the European region.
Growth drivers came from Europe (up 34.9%), Asia (up 20.9%), Australia (up 13.7%), America (up 8.5%), and Africa (up 4.7%).

Major markets in Asia recorded high growth rates, including China (+43.9%), India (+42.9%), Japan (+17.1%). Southeast Asian markets grew well: Philippines (+92.2%), Cambodia (+50.4%), Laos (+32.8%), Indonesia (+14.2%), Malaysia (+13.7%), Singapore (+11.1%), Thailand (+8.5%).
In particular, markets in Europe witnessed good growth results, in which the Russian market continued to grow very rapidly (+173.0%), due to the positive impact of the visa exemption policy and the effective implementation of tourism promotion and advertising programs in Russia by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, localities and businesses in recent times.
