At the seminar "Building digital trust" organized by the National Cyber ​​Security Association on July 28, Mr. Nguyen Tien Cuong - representative of Department A05, Ministry of Public Security - said that the establishment of the alliance is one of the three key initiatives that Department A05 coordinated with the National Cyber ​​Security Association to propose at the National KOL Conference, which will take place for the first time next August.

According to Mr. Cuong, the rapid development of social networks has posed great challenges regarding fake news, misleading advertising and deviant content. In many countries, KOL is not simply a marketing tool but has become a symbol of “soft power” with influence in society.

The Vietnam KOL Alliance will be a gathering place for prestigious KOLs with positive social influence to promote public opinion, fight against misinformation, spread digital safety skills and implement community projects.

In addition, the alliance will implement a program to promote responsible influence of KOLs through community rules and standards, promoting transparency and voluntary self-control of KOLs themselves.

The establishment of the Vietnam KOL Alliance comes at a time when the current legal framework has not yet kept up with the influence of KOLs, while sanctions are still light and lack deterrence.

Practical initiatives to support KOLs and KOCs in developing talent, creating quality content and avoiding legal risks… have been emerging but have not spread enough to become a foundation for the healthy development of KOLs and KOCs in Vietnam.

The first national KOL conference is also expected to become an “open roundtable” between KOLs, management agencies, digital platform businesses and the community; promoting a wave of responsible influence, contributing to shaping a civilized, safe and sustainable digital Vietnam.
