Vietnam Airlines opens direct flight connecting Hanoi

Vietnam Airlines has just officially launched a direct flight route from Hanoi to Phnom Penh (Cambodia), becoming the only Vietnamese airline to operate direct flights between the two capitals.

The inaugural flight of the direct route connecting Hanoi - Hanoi - Phnom Penh, flight number VN923, took off from Noi Bai International Airport at 5:10 p.m. on October 27 and landed at Hanoi - Phnom Penh International Airport at 7:05 p.m. on the same day. The direct flight time is only 1 hour and 55 minutes.

Vietnam Airlines will operate four flights per week on the Hanoi - Hanoi - Phnom Penh route on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays using Airbus A321 aircraft.

The new route brings the total number of routes between Vietnam and Cambodia that the airline is operating to 5, including Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi - Phnom Penh; Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City - Seam Reap and the trans-Indochina route connecting Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City - Vientiane (Laos) - Hanoi - Phnom Penh (Cambodia). The total number of flights between the two countries is up to 86 flights per week.

According to a representative of Vietnam Airlines, thanks to the high flight frequency and convenient connecting times for passengers from European, American, and Northeast Asian markets, the route between Vietnam and Cambodia is very attractive to passengers who want to combine Vietnam with other destinations in the region.

Over the past 30 years since opening the route connecting Vietnam and Cambodia, Vietnam Airlines has transported nearly 8.2 million passengers and 28,400 tons of cargo on more than 81,000 flights between the two countries.

Mr. Dang Anh Tuan, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines, assessed that the direct flight route will contribute to increasing the connection between Vietnam and Cambodia. Besides the role of a geographical bridge, transiting passengers or goods, direct flights are also "ambassadors" participating in strongly promoting bilateral relations, helping the friendship between the two countries to become increasingly stronger.

"The company also constantly improves its competitiveness and service quality, thereby best meeting the needs of customers in both countries," Mr. Tuan shared.

On the occasion of the opening of the new route, Vietnam Airlines said it will reward Golden Lotus Plus members with double bonus miles for passengers flying Business Class, Economy Flex, and Economy Standard when taking the Hanoi - Phnom Penh flight from now until November 30, and double bonus miles for passengers flying Economy Saver from now until November 2.
