Case of 3 workers died, many people suffered from pneumoconiosis: Penalize the enterprise

On October 7, the leader of the Southeast Economic Zone Management Board said that for not organizing occupational disease examinations for workers and not conducting work environment monitoring to control harmful effects on workers' health, Chau Tien Company Limited (Nam Cam Industrial Park, Nghi Long Commune, Nghi Loc District) was fined a total of 116 million VND by the People's Committee of Nghe An Province.

Accordingly, this company was fined 60 million VND for not conducting work environment monitoring to control harmful effects on workers' health according to the law; and for administrative violations in the fields of labor, social insurance, and Vietnamese workers working abroad under contracts.

The aggravating circumstance applied to this enterprise is repeated violations. Specifically, from 2017 to 2022, Chau Tien Company Limited did not organize the implementation of labor environment monitoring according to the provisions of law.

In addition, the People's Committee of Nghe An province fined the company VND56 million for not organizing occupational disease examinations for 14 workers doing heavy, toxic, dangerous and especially heavy, toxic, dangerous work.

As Dan Tri reported, the Nghe An Interdisciplinary Inspection Team concluded on compliance with the law on occupational diseases, working environment, working environment monitoring, and implementation of social insurance and health insurance policies for employees at Chau Tien Company Limited.

This is an inspection team established by the People's Committee of Nghe An province after receiving information about 3 deaths of workers at this company and 5 people being treated for silicosis.

Chau Tien Company Limited has 34 employees, including 28 direct employees.

After the inspection, the delegation drew up a record of administrative violations and recommended that the Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee impose a penalty according to his authority on Chau Tien Company Limited in the field of labor.

Chau Tien Co., Ltd. was established in 2005, licensed to produce stone powder with a scale of 40,000 tons/year and to produce wall putty powder with a scale of 30,000 tons/year. Then the company expanded production, processing superfine white limestone powder with a scale of 180,000 tons/year and processing quartz powder with a scale of 150,000 tons/year.

The company uses silica pebbles to produce white silica stone powder as raw material for stone pressing plants and steel mill floor lining stones.
