Xuan Hoa Commune respectfully offers incense to commemorate Saint Tran Hung Dao

(DN) - Along with localities across the country, on the morning of October 11 (the 20th day of the 8th lunar month), amidst the bustling sound of festival drums and the solemn melodies of folk songs, the government and people of Xuan Hoa commune (Dong Nai province) solemnly held a ceremony to commemorate the 725th anniversary of the death of Saint Tran Hung Dao (1300-2025) - the talented National Duke and Commander-in-Chief, the national hero who commanded the army and people of the Tran Dynasty three times to defeat the Yuan-Mongol invaders, protecting the entire territory of Dai Viet.

From early morning, the villagers were present at the temple, holding incense sticks, their hearts respectfully turned to the Saint of the people. The sound of bells and drums echoed as if connecting the past with the present - where the heroic history pages were recalled with all pride and deep gratitude.

Speaking at the ceremony, the representative of Xuan Hoa commune emphasized: Remembering Saint Tran is not only remembering a talented general, but also an occasion to remind each of us today to live responsibly, love our homeland, and contribute to building Xuan Hoa commune to be more civilized and prosperous.

According to the elders here, the Tran Hung Dao Temple in Xuan Hoa commune was built in the 60s of the 20th century, symbolizing the indomitable will and patriotism. After many changes, there was a period when the temple was devastated by war and had to be moved to many different locations. After the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975), the people of Xuan Hoa joined hands to contribute their efforts to restore and rebuild the temple in Xuan Hoa 3 hamlet - where the temple is located majestically to this day. The temple contains within it a spiritual source, pride and gratitude of many generations of Xuan Hoa people.

Every year, on the 20th day of the 8th lunar month, the people of Xuan Hoa commune hold a memorial ceremony for Saint Tran with full rituals: procession, incense offering, flower offering, and Chau Van singing and dancing performances to offer to the Saint.

The festive atmosphere blends solemnity and joyful reunion, creating a unique cultural identity of this peaceful land. This is also an opportunity to educate the young generation about patriotism and national pride. The fragrant incense sticks and simple prayers today are the way Xuan Hoa people express their gratitude to Saint Tran - the immortal hero in Vietnamese history.

The 725th anniversary of the death of Saint Tran Hung Dao in Xuan Hoa commune is not only a cultural and religious event, but also a testament to the enduring vitality of the tradition of "remembering the source of the water you drink", showing that despite the ups and downs, the people's hearts for Saint Tran still shine like a sacred flame that never goes out.
